Digital River vs. Xoom, a PayPal Service (personal use only)

Well suited if you are wanting to implement a solution with minimal staff or resources to support a large project such as E-Commerce software delivery.

Xoom is best suited to send and receive money between two people who live in different countries, not only that we can also send money to our friends, colleagues, family members directly in their bank accounts. They have a great currency exchange functionality that directly converts our received money into our local currency, and deposits it into our bank account within a few minutes. The only drawback is that not many people know about it, it needs good marketing so that more people can use this service, and from my experience, I can say it is very secure and a good competitor of Payoneer.

• Digital River's email marketing arm has always been top notch. They are very connected with their customers, quick to alert us to any problems they are experiencing and respond if we bring something to their attention.
• The Global Commerce platform has grown leaps and bounds in the last few years. Its great having a cloud based ecommerce platform that can be accessed securely from any computer in the world.
• Worldwide payments continues to be a Digital River strong point. They are continually investigating and and doing the work necessary to new countries and locales to their platform.

• Very fast transfer and very secure as being of PayPal.
• Receiver don't need to download the app or use Xoom.
• It supports bank and debit card to transfer funds and same with the receiver.

• Their flexibility and customizability are lacking. Changes to our cart or store require a lot of lead time discussions and development time.
• They have many strange UI implementations for things. One search bar is a wildcard match, while another is a string match. One setting might break your product, or be editable once, but you cannot change it after that one time.

• Some destinations take longer to get delivered to.
• Higher amounts of money are harder to transfer.
• High fees when trying to add funds to new card.

N/A I wasn't the person that implemented or recommended Digital River. But from an eCommerce standpoint I liked the organization overall and would recommend it.

I don't see any other service that is so versatile and which offers such a breadth of services.

It's one of the most easy to use and intuitive platforms. The app is very powerful as well.

The implementation was largely successful. Since this was a large shift from normal practices, we faced a few teething problems, but largely I'd say it went well.

We evaluated our ability to expand internationally with our current e-commerce platform and decided we could get to market faster with Digital River

We agreed to select Xoom as the main payment method since it had more flexible options. It gives the user a full guarantee of transacting safely and when there is a conflict the customer support team acts quickly. The charges for sending and receiving money are relatively low as compared to other platforms. The mobile application has biometric login features making it difficult for unauthorized users to access confidential information.

• We have had an uptick in payment processing times.
• We receive payments from customers on time with no lag between invoice and payment dates.
• Overall Xoom has literally added to our bottom line by allowing more than a physical check payment option.
