Secure Email Gateway
Comparison of Secure Email Gateway features of Product A and Product B
EdgeWave mitigates some of the risk of email by pre-filtering for emails with viruses or other security threatening attachments. It does a good job of removing unwanted or potentially risky emails and allowing for safe viewing and review of these emails without compromising your company and mail delivery systems. It does not provide a timely notification delivery system for seeing emails with problems without accessing their client consolr site.
I think that Webroot Email Security is good for small-medium sized businesses who are on a budget for email security. They actually have a great encryption system for outbound email, and so if you bundle those together then it puts everything in the same pane of glass and that is nice. Over the last few years this company was purchased by OpenText, and I have seen some improvements because of that, but this product is not innovating like other emails solutions based on new threats that are emerging. I would say if you have a relatively low volume of inbound email, then this solution would suffice.
More information could be available in the email notification that reports when email was blocked.
While trying to work with an application that sends email it can be difficult to determine why the email was not received if blocked by EdgeWave unless a check of their dashboard is made since notifications cannot be scheduled more than once daily.
The option to have reports sent more frequently is a much needed feature.
It is much simpler to configure and operate in comparison to other anti-spam applications. Zix's customer usage is comparable to that of other spam filters on the market; but, in terms of convenience of use, Zix comes out on top. Daily delivery of logs is provided, and the user is not required to sign in order for an email to be sent.
AppRiver's support from our perspective replaces the Microsoft365 Support we typically would have to receive from Microsoft by ticket. Instead, AppRiver supports us by phone, live chat, or email. Being able to get a hold of someone quickly makes a huge difference, especially when an issue is urgent and we can't wait hours or days for a response from Microsoft.
EdgeWave ePrism Email Security is very similar to other programs such as Barracuda, SonicWall, or Proofpoint. I have used some of these other products in the past and I can't say that any of them do anything better or significantly different from EdgeWave so I believe all would provide similar protection. EdgeWave was the product chosen before I started working at my current employer and I don't have any compelling reason to change.
Cost is competitive, but factoring in Office licensing really made sense for my organization. Cost is lower for more features - I was able to move to Zix and get the top of the line package, moving from a mid-tier product at a competitor. Workflows and process have improved, and the filter is more accurate than our previous filter
Users have to complete an account setup in order to view the encrypted email in a portal. Other platforms just let you open the email without having to setup an account.
Pretty easy to use if you don't make many customizations to it.
