MediaValet in Vancouver offers their eponymous digital asset management (DAM) platform.
Well suited to organization starting their journey of design system creation. It provides a ready to go foundation that requires minimum effort to set up and get going. It may be limited if scaling into thousands of design elements and multiple users - we have not tried at scale of more that 10's of users.
MediaValet has been the exact solution we needed to manage our food and drink photo library. We had keywords assigned to most of our photos when we got started. Even if we hadn't, the AI feature could recognize items in the photos and keyword them for us! Most of our assets are photos, videos and graphics that are very visual assets.
Replace an old version of an asset with a newer one without having to check-out, then check-in
Sharing an asset or a set of assets via a share link -- would be great to generate shorter, dynamic URLs for sharing as opposed to the longer string URLs it currently generates
Frontify is very easy to use and makes updating information a breeze. Frontify acts a central location to house assets and information for easy sharing. You can plug and play information and even white label the guide if desired
We have still got a long way to go before we fully realise the potential of MediaValet as an organsiation. As the teams get more familiar with the DAM, we will be able to better understand what is or isn't working for them - and also how MediaValet evolves as our business evolves. I expect that we are highly likely to renew but with a lot of ground to cover still, I cannot determine exactly how likely this will be.
We've invested time building our own hosted interface, and recently begun exploring Figma for design system management too. The benefit of Frontify is it's easy public access. The downfall is integration with other systems required in the UX, Design, Product Management, and Development processes - something Figma supports well.
1. Business file systems - this ends up being based on the logic of whomever first set it up, and is typically not very flexible, and terrible search capabilities. 2. Teams - a little better than above due to some control of access, but still painful searching process. 3. Custom made "in house" DAMs. Typically have a better searching capability, but storage file paths/logic can still be clunky depending on setup.
