Miro
Suitable for all scenarios, preeminent services like interaction and engagement, and is best suited for collaborative teamwork. It simplifies team projects with its virtual Conferencing. Miro is designed to accommodate all organizational preferences without requiring any specific setup. There are many templates to work with, each with its uniqueness. The whiteboard platform is way better compared to others.

When building a new product or even a new startup - this tool is priceless, in demonstrating a product's potential without really building it and investing expensive resources before you have users' validation. It's less usable for any backend planning, or when the system behind is too complicated and any user interaction changes the dataset behind the scenes

Pros
Miro
  • Collaboration is key especially working in remote environments and Miro is a fantastic tool for getting the teams aligned on a project
  • Talkback is a great feature to walkthrough a board to give team members the freedom to watch it in their own time rather than having to wait for the whole team to be together
  • Putting frames on the board helps to keep content in sections and really helps with grouping everything you need your team to look at in chunks of information, notoriously tools like Miro have been difficult to separate information but this is much easier with Miro now.
  • AI summary of research notes is a fantastic feature which groups findings in to key categories and helps to synthesise the findings quickly and easily.

  • Premade elements: makes it easy to build the mockup and give it a professional look and feel

Cons
Miro
  • Editorial rights, as an expert user I want to help others (the creators) of the file but I'm not able to start timers or lock certain templates.
  • Anonymous voting is great, but we still prefer (visual) voting dots.
  • Ordering presentations from left to right/top to bottom with a button in stead of ordering one by one.
  • Export to pdf, if you make a presentation to export parts of it easily. The 'export selected' has not once worked for me.

  • When navigating on the big board, it's hard to track the different screens when there are a few dozen of them
  • Prototype mode: there should be an easier way to track the screen that needs to be connected from a specific element
  • I'd like to use a proofreading extension on top of Visiliy, such as Grammarly, so I won't have to look for those typos

There is no other tool like Miro for process Mapping in particular. I've tried PowerPoint, Word, and other programs, but when collaborating virtually on how to improve a process, Miro has all of the tools and more to enable successful mapping. The colors, different types of shapes and text books, along with the ability to integrate different documents and other functionality, make it ideal for this purpose. In a virtual world, it's a must-have.

Usability
Miro
The overall UX is really good so I wanted to give you my feedback in cases could be interested for you :) Sometimes I have problems with the sizes of the text and the size of the lines... Usually is hard to adjust the sizes on the boards. In boards with to much info sometimes I experiment problems to change the size of the text manually, I cant put my own size and need to select one provided by the tool My setup (maybe useful): Macbook Pro and Google Chrome

Reliability and Availability
Miro
I only give a 9/10 because of the speed at which it loads. I have never experienced issues with Miro logging me out early, or some other technical issue causing the program to crash, or even it just loading in perpetuity without ever actually coming up (unlike other programs such as SFDC). It take a minute for all of my boards to come up after I click on it in my favorites, but besides that, it's all good.

Performance
Miro
I took the loading quickly to be related to availability which I commented on before, so ditto with those comment on load time here. Although to reemphasize, Miro doesn't crash or just refuse to load like some other programs. The weak point of Miro for me is integration of files like Word, Excel, or PowerPoint (especially the later two). When you embed these, it gets slow, and complicated to bring them up while you're in the application.

Support Rating
Miro
We have never reached out to or contacted support because Miro's platform has been incredibly intuitive and user-friendly. The comprehensive resources available, such as tutorials, documentation, and community forums, have provided all the guidance we needed. The seamless integration with our existing tools and the reliability of the platform have ensured that we rarely encounter issues that require external assistance. This self-sufficiency has allowed us to focus more on our projects and collaboration without interruptions. Overall, our experience with Miro has been smooth and efficient, eliminating the need for additional support

Online Training
Miro
There was a series of webinars which Miro hosted with our organization that went over the basics, then progressively became more advanced with additional sections. The instructors were knowledgeable, and provided examples throughout the sessions, as well as answered peoples' questions. There was ample time and experience on the calls to cover a range of topics. The instructors were also very friendly and sociable, as well as honest. Of course Miro isn't a "God-tool" that does absolutely everything, but the instructors were aware and emphasized the strengths where Miro had them and sincerely accepted feedback.

Implementation Rating
Miro
Easy to learn, Miro has a series of videos on YouTube that effectively taught this program to my team members and me. The program is drag-and-drop and works excellently. People pick up on how to use it efficiently, and it's great for organizing ideas more freely. This product is more challenging for some older audiences who are not accustomed to using a touchpad, but for most, it was very easy to use.

We use all those instruments, but Google Drive works better when you need to work with spreadsheets or text, without design. Figma is also great, but it is a little more challenging to use, so it's easier to keep the content in Miro for non-designers. We selected it for its simplicity and ability to cover our needs.

The possibility to animate to mockup is very valuable and needed at the product's early stage and validation stage

Scalability
Miro
Maybe is possible now so... Could be useful to manage in some way source code for the projects? not to edit so when we make solutions with different components in MIro, maybe each component could redirect to the source code of this component

Return on Investment
Miro
  • Improved productivity
  • Increased collaboration
  • More comfort in remote work with the ability to brainstorm together - still feels like we can collaborate
  • Allows us to be more agile - we can mock up a quick low-fi concept in Miro and get feedback before we spend too much time on prototypes
  • Easy user flows / business process models - allows us to easily document all of the steps in a process without learning some fancy system or platform

Visily
  • Saved us hours of developing the wrong product, since we could enhance validation by demoing a pre-built product by using Visily
  • Helped us communicate ideas between Product and Developer roles within our team
  • Cost us some extra time in design, because we didn't import the design from Visily to Miro, which created an overlap
