There are some specific scenarios where SAP on IBM Cloud is less appropriate. For example, if a company is looking for a platform to run small or experimental applications, then SAP on IBM Cloud may not be the best option. Additionally, if a company is looking for a very customized or tailored solution, then SAP on IBM Cloud may also be less appropriate. However, for most businesses who are looking for a secure, scalable, and reliable platform to run their business applications, SAP on IBM Cloud is an excellent option.
Vultr is very well suited for development workloads and workloads that may require a diverse group of locations. For production workloads, if the region you're looking to invest in has availability, it will be great. We're running both our development and production workloads on Vultr currently. Unfortunately for us, we chose one of their least available locations as a home base which has made it very challenging to expand within the region. Update to review: Availability was an issue until the surprise announcement of the new Optimized Compute. It appears now that they were not restocking the hardware we were using as they intended to replace it.
IBM Cloud, like other clouds helped us to make a switch from Capital Expenditure model to Operational expense model.
Our existing infrastructure had availability, recovery and scalability issues. With IBM cloud we are able to speed-up recovery and minimize risk to business.
IBM also offered us a way to optimize the total cost of ownership without making any sacrifices on the business and IT needs.
I am giving the overall support for SAP on IBM Cloud 9 out of 10 because IBM Cloud provides excellent quality tech support via phone and chat. So far, I have not had a negative experience working with IBM Cloud support staff. They are easy to reach, helpful, and courteous
I have tested out both Microsoft Azure and SAP on IBM Cloud and can confidently say that SAP on IBM Cloud is the obvious choice. The key advantages of SAP on IBM Cloud compared to Microsoft Azure are that IBM Cloud offers free unlimited access to tech support, provides higher object storage space as well as unlimited private virtual servers.
I just like the Vultr environment. DigitalOcean, for example, has many restrictions about the configuration of 25 ports (email server) and this is really bad for my business. Linode has had security issues in the past, someone has stolen data from one user on their platform. I guess Vultr is more indicated to advanced people with critical tasks to be done.
Positive - We have a need to innovate and moving to IBM cloud offered us all the technologies and abilities to innovate faster and for cheap[er].
Positive - the amount of data that we have generated over the years was left unleveraged to its full potential. However we are now able to make sense of that data in near-real time.
Positive - due to the low total cost of ownership, we are able to take on new initiatives involving inrastructure and scale down if it doesn't make business sense.
