Adyen is a fantastic service. We have NEVER had a service disruption. Just the opposite, Adyen helped us through several incidents where we were being carded or otherwise targeted. Of gateways in the market, Adyen has some of the easiest-to-use interfaces, a fantastic set of fraud management tools, an actual omnichannel presence (with access to high-quality POS devices), and most importantly, a world-class customer success team that is always in our corner. I'd strongly recommend it to anyone looking for an omnichannel gateway or needing a gateway to be integrated into their commerce platform or ERP.
Pros
Omnichannel Payment Collection
Fraud Mitigation
Cost Effective
Reliable Gateway Services
International Payment Collection
Customer Service
Cons
Would like more options for hardened POS terminals

Any user on Netsuite, Salesforce Commerce Cloud, or Magento should be considering Adyen. As well as customers that are considering Stripe, but also want a physical or international presence. Adyen is highly competitive with Braintree and has much better success support. Not suited for customers who already have a payment-integrated platform, like Square or Shopify.
<ol><li>Makes it easy to integrate with drop-in components.</li><li>The reporting dashboards provides all the insights you need to review the health of your payments.</li><li>Supports industry standard security features like 3DS </li><li>Integrates with most payment methods. </li></ol>
Pros
Simple integration
Cons
The support team has a 24 hour SLA to respond which is way too long at times.
The documentation on the site can seem out of sync at times.
Likelihood to Recommend
Provides pay by link which can be implemented quickly with minimal development.

Adyen is a our payment processor for physical retail storefronts, e-commerce, and call center/concierge, all of which utilize Dynamics 365 F&O, which Adyen is out-of-box solution for. The call center manages our wine club subscriptions, or in other words re-occurring transactions. We are about to launch wallet payments on our e-commerce store utilizing the built-in integration Adyen provides.
Pros
Integrates well with D365 FO
Wallet Payment integration
Customer portal
Cons
Would like to see some additional offering for payment terminals
QR code payments
Pay by Phone App, with no needed development for customers.
Likelihood to Recommend
Well suited for Ecommerce. Checkout is seamless, especially with the addition of wallet payments (Apple Pay, Google Pay). Physical store checkout could be improved due to terminal hardware and customer payments. Terminal hardware could be improved, and it'd be great to have an iPhone app/software delivered by Adyen, rather than having to build in-house.
We use Adyen as our payment service provider of choice for acquiring transactions and local payment methods in a highly data-driven context. Our use case is recurring top up transactions which users use on their account to then access a variety of payment services in a European context. We utilise Adyen differently in each geography since we operate throughout the EU, offering local payment method where available and beneficial for conversion. Additionally, we also make use of fraud prevention tools offered by Adyen to manage risk.
Pros
Provide exhaustive data points on an individual transaction basis
Offer a holistic payment service solution
Offer a high variety and relevant payment methods per geography
Cons
Their native platform is slow to offer changes
They lack data manipulation and visualisation functions natively on Adyen's platform
The documentation page is not exhaustive and up-to-date
Likelihood to Recommend
Wherever a payments solution needs to be offered relatively fast, it's easy to set up and powerful, with strong technical capabilities. It works well both in settings where there isn't a dedicated payments department or team, as it can be customised with relative ease and low technical know-how.

Adyen processes our payments and we manage our chargebacks as well in Adyen.
Pros
Easy access to various reports
The "Insights" section that shows the data in a user friendly way
It's relatively easy to add new payment methods
Cons
I would like to be able to create my own reports, like a combination between "Received payment details" and "Interactive payment accounting".
Maybe you can have a better integration with PayPal. The disputes are reflected all wrong in Adyen, for example if we accept a chargeback in PayPal, in Adyen we see a "chargeback reversed" status first, then we see a "refund" status. This is very confusing for us, we have accepted that chargeback, which means we have lost the case, what are a Chargeback Reversed and a Refund statuses doing here? I think PayPal is trying to unblock the transaction that received the chargeback, but this is a very confusing way of handling the chargebacks. If I look at the "Dispute transaction details" reports, all the PayPal chargebacks are "won" because of that "Chargeback reversed" status, which is obviously wrong, we lose some cases and we win others.
Amex chargebacks could be integrated. We don't see them in Adyen at all.
Likelihood to Recommend
I like that it is easy to add a new payment method and I think the reports are good and detailed.
Great service that is cost effective and globally trusted. Company is innovative and expanding beyond payment processing such as banking as a service. Compliance and safety is top notch. Partnership with other fintechs enables additional capability such as buy-now, pay-later. Authentication rate is very high through use of various network level technology. The people at Adyen are knowledgeable and can guide you in your journey as your business grows.
Pros
Global domestic payments processing
Low rates that are affordable
Wonderful partnership and helps merchants grow
Cons
Need subscription management service

One of my B2B clients is using an online channel and accepting orders worldwide. During covid time business needs to collect fund while ordering keeping in mind specific payment options and security. Also, businesses want a list of specific payment options which should be available in Europe, China, and the US region. For these regions, businesses that want the list of payment options should be configurable so that options can be available based on the region the customers belong to. Also, businesses are looking for a solution that is already PCI DSS Compliant so that businesses do not have to worry about it. So Adyen fulfills all of these requirements and it is widely used in Europe as well.
Pros
PCI DSS Compliant Solution
Provided options to configure a specific list of payments, like Alipay, ACH, PayPal, etc.
Good support and quick solution for the technical help
Well described documentation on technical integrations
Drop in framework to display the payment options
Cons
Payment APIs and frameworks are getting upgraded but using updated features requires changes on the implementation side.
Sometimes error messages are not self-explanatory and we need to connect to support.
Adyen portal should support more languages.
Likelihood to Recommend
We have integrated our eCommerce application with Adyen and the following are the scenarios: Drop-in framework is well-suited and fits very well in our case. Also, it has a secured integration layer with front-end technology. We do not worry about PCI DSS Compliance and audit as API integration works well independently. Also, all of the payment information of customers is encrypted and secured which increases trust in privacy. Different Payment types integration like 2-step verification, account login verification, etc. Runtime configuration to display or restrict payment type.
We use Adyen as a direct acquirer in our e-commerce, it has proved to be a very agile and efficient payment processing tool, it has a high approval rate, and a response time that suits online purchases well.It has transshipped to other payment methods just as quickly when a purchase is denied by its platform. It has very clear forecast reports, as well as withdrawal logs with all the details of processed amounts and card scheme fees.
Pros
Excellent dispute management with direct API with issuers
detailed cashout records with the fees of the well-discriminating card schemes.
very clear forecast reports
Cons
the portal could have the option in Portuguese
the reports could have the option in Portuguese
chargeback defenses could have the option to be compiled in Portuguese
Likelihood to Recommend
For example when it comes to disputes and chargebacks, we have a very appropriate portal where we have access to all the information provided by the issuer and the full term of the credit card schemes for defense. In addition to having an FAQ where they explain each reason code and how to prepare a defense.Another positive point is that when we needed to answer some extra questions we had a quick response in Portuguese by email and by phone that helped us completely.
