IBM Cloud Object Storage is being used by a department. We run IoT service in IBM Cloud for the connected devices that we make. We use IBM Cloud Object Storage to store images taken by those connected devices. Users then have the capability to view the stored images in the mobile apps.

  • Good region selections
  • Good web UI support
  • Easy to configure
  • Search function in the web UI has room for improvement
IBM Cloud Object Storage is well suited to store unstructured data. It has different storage classes to choose based on requirements such as availability, performance, cost, etc. Buckets can be used to control the data grouping and data access.

It can also be used for scenarios like data backup, or long-term. cheap, persistent storage.

I work as a reseller. Then I have supported many projects to offload on premises data to cloud.
It presents a good relation between costs and capacity therefore is a good solution for long term data retention.
Also some "cloud native" customers rely on this as a "data store".
  • Cost x Benefit
  • Availability
  • The costs for put and get operations may have a huge impact. It should be explained with more details to avoid pitfalls for new users.
Backup is a good use case because you can move your data between storage tiers. Then, active data is kept "hot" and inactive data can be moved to "cold" vault, allowing to save money.

IBM Cloud Object Storage is the primary cloud storage solution we use in our organization. We store images, audios, videos, and other file assets, run reports and other analytics on the meta-data associated with those assets.
  • Compatibility with Amazon S3 API
  • Simple and quick to setup
  • Secure
  • Integration with other cloud services such as AI
  • Does not support S3 style versioning for public cloud
  • Documentation, while easy to use, certain configurations lack documentation (or hard to find) for further clarification.
If you are on IBM Cloud, the IBM Cloud Object Storage should be your "go to" solution for your storage needs. It is robust, easy to use, and is compatible with Amazon S3 API. You can also run SQL-like queries on the objects/files stored there. Its high availability also makes it very reliable.

IBM Cloud Object Storage [is] used for training and and data storage. It is mainly used by the data science department. It enables users who are not the most familiar with difficult devops procedures to work with big data and manage their data. It addresses problems like data synchronization, user training, and so on.
  • Ease of Use.
  • Extensive documentation.
  • One stop shop with devops integration.
  • Loading speed.
  • CLI integration not as declarative as other providers.
  • Certain documentation not up to date.
Cloud object storage is well suited for storing static assets, things like images, videos, music clips, or any other type of unstructured large data blobs. It is especially suited for use cases when users need storage across different regions and time zones.
It is potentially not suited for cases when there is large amounts of read and write at a very high speed.

We use to store articles, newspaper advertisements and then we use NLP for summarization. We need a lot of space because we train our model with these articles but twits as well and then we 'sense' the behavior of several products by providing short descriptions and recipes.

IBM Cloud [Object] Storage has been useful in testing concepts of cloud technology -- While there are many trainings available, these concepts do not become "real" until you get your hands around an actual environment. IBM Cloud [Object] Storage provides that safe secure testing environment where you can make your own exploration and experiments without fear of breaking anything important. It also allows you to convert to production when you get to that point of your maturity.
  • Friendly interface
  • Fast response
  • Consistent terminology
  • A guided "for dummies" for the non-technical people especially executives and managers
  • Quick starts (playbooks) with everything you need
  • Real-world applications (eg, WordPress, eCommerce apps, etc) that can be provisioned and customized easily
You can use IBM Cloud [Object] Storage to test your existing staff or even incoming applicants on their cloud knowledge. You can ask for their certification (incoming) or use it as a capacity-building exercise for existing staff. On another aspect, you can use IBM Cloud [Object] Storage as a laboratory to test some of your in-house developed applications as they are migrated into cloud.

We are using IBM Cloud Object Storage for storing and accessing structured and unstructured data for our company as part of our overall IBM Cloud package. We are using it across the whole organization. It addresses our security concerns about the data, it is able to keep our data secure and private, and it's able to store our data on the cloud so that we can access it easily--and we like the high-speed file transfer services. It also integrates well with other IBM services.
  • High-speed file transfer
  • Integrates well with IBM services
  • Data security
  • The user interface can be made simpler
  • Options for different languages
  • More training resources for users
It's more suited when you want to save structured/unstructured data easily in a safe and secure environment that will be easy to access anytime from any computer with internet access. Your data will be safe and you will be able to transfer it to any device or devices at high speed as well. It's not appropriate for users who have limited training in using IBM Cloud in general, as it takes a little bit of time to know your way around the program.

It is being used as a training resource. We allow new trainees to train using this free service to get comfortable using cloud storage systems.
  • Design
  • Ease of Use
  • Instructions
  • More colorful interface
  • More simple navigation tools
  • Not always asking to change from free version to paid
I think it's suited for simple scenarios that only involve a few steps. I wouldn't recommend it for something with more than twenty or so steps because the navigation may get increasingly difficult as you add more options.

IBM Cloud Storage is an extremely useful tool for information technology. It is easily portable and I use the DB-2 for any project that requires a database.
  • IBM Cloud is so easy to use
  • IBM Cloud Storage is my go to Cloud based Database
  • I would go no further than IBM Cloud for my storage needs
  • I would add more instructional videos
  • More intuitive menus
I am very likely to recommend IBM Cloud Object Storage to anyone I know, but its less useful at a small scale.

IBM Cloud Object Storage is being used within a department, primarily by a core team with some extensions to members of other teams. It addresses the ability to back up our data in an easily accessible and scalable way that is more straightforward to deploy than some internal IT solutions.
  • Reduces the waiting time for internal IT processes
  • Easy to deploy and configure
  • Easy to scale with our storage needs
  • Interface can be easier to use
  • Sometimes it can be difficult to find the functions that are needed
  • Collaboration and sharing can be made simpler
I am currently using IBM Cloud Object Storage to store and retrieve data on my main projects. It has also been useful for maintaining files within the broader team as well. The ability to integrate ML using IBM Watson is a nice feature that will hopefully be leveraged in the future.

IBM Cloud Object Storage is great for my organization, as it provides exceptional service and great user experience. It's used across my whole company, and it is effortless to adapt to. I recommend IBM Cloud to any small or big business who wants great support and service. The user interface makes the software even better.
  • Provide Cloud services, like Servers, Storage and more.
  • Provide Website and Domain Linking services, which helps you maintain a website on IBM cloud
  • All these, with 25 Gigabytes of free storage, IBM is a really good choice!
  • Provides VMware for virtualization, and cloud collaboration options.
  • The IBM website takes a really long time to load, and after loading the elements too take time to load.
  • In Cloud Buckets, its not possible to delete all items at the same time, which is a bummer.
  • In cloud buckets, its not possible to change website rules.
IBM Cloud Storage is very suitable for small businesses and startups, which need good and affordable software. It is not very suitable for high scale infrastructure, like datacentres.

IBM Cloud Object Storage is being used by the design team to educate students about machine learning and artificial intelligence. It's being used by one department, the design and digital team, and helps address the demand for multiple children and users to learn about machine learning without needing powerful computers or a lot of storage space.
  • Excellent storage size with multiple server locations and plans to choose from
  • Many tools for machine learning and data management provided for organisation
  • Security and encryption that assures the durability and privacy of data
  • Often web pages take longer to load than ideal, causing slow transfer rates
  • Depending on the server chosen, some features behave differently and glitch, such as Watson Studios and visual recognition services
  • The web page is slightly difficult to navigate without proper training, leading to difficulty in accessing data easily
Well suited in machine learning and online data storage for assets needed for the same. Less useful when teaching students about data management in computer science.

I used IBM to store data and apps for my NGO colleagues to simplify data access, usage, monitoring, and follow up on projects we serve to the community. It is a bit hard at the beginning. Once I got used to it, I found it easy and reliable with a wide access of supporting tools and community. Highly recommend it!
  • Speed of processing
  • Safe storage
  • Easy access and reliability
  • More user friendly interface.
  • Supporting video tutorials in other languages like Arabic.
  • Additional marketing investment to make sure IBM voice and products reach everyone on the globe.
It is a very well adopted solution to scenarios when your privacy is a must. For example, in our case, private data to many local habitats and contributors are shared to make analytical studies and generate statics, especially during ththes pandemic. I believe it is a good solution for all scenarios but one little issue is the interface; it has to be more user-friendly.

IBM Cloud Object Storage with features like Aspera and a wide range of other enterprise applications available have come so far in the last year alone. The integration, ease of use and user experience have improved dramatically. IBM and the fast growing startup community in Austin, TX are adoption a now refined enterprise offering to accelerate our journey into the cloud and beyond.
  • Aspera for ingestion
  • Ai and ML modeling
  • Asset management and creation
  • Most secure/ enterprise solution
  • Ease of use
  • With so many offerings, a UI beyond just APi documentation.
  • Onboarding specialist and mid market case studies
Modeling large amounts of data becomes available to a wider generation of marketers. I find that data analysis and structuring for ingestion to be the most difficult challenge for new users. I ofter feel accomplished completing even a portion of a guided tutorial. With the ease of use of jupyter notebooks and asset management, the UI needs to be revamped for the next generation of enterprise executives.

I have used IBM Cloud Object Storage for my Coursera Class, "Statistics in Data Science using Python," primarily for Jupyter Notebooks and Kernels. With this tool, I have been able to create various test notebooks and work through labs pre-built by the course instructors. It allows for an easy destination to quickly test and run the statistical models I create.
  • Run Kernels
  • Run segments of Python code
  • Test statistical models
  • Slow load-up time
  • Have to sift through a few pages before reaching my destination
  • Kernel time-out error

We resell the object storage to our clients, as part of a SaaS solution.
  • It performs as well as the other top hyper-scale storage providers
  • They offer some unique features and flexibility
  • They are willing to provide a pricing model that is more predictable, re: egress
  • Being part of a huge organization has caused some delays in getting started

We use it during development of web and mobile solutions for clients to handle media and file storage. Its being used mainly by the whole organisation because during testing of application other department help us it in testing and they interact with file upload which is most times implemented under the hood with IBM Cloud Object Storage. It helps to efficiently eradicate tedious experience I have in past for file upload and retrieval which I am given a public url and private url to have live access to the file. I use it in projects for storing prospective users and returning users images, supporting documents which often is in doc format or pdf format. It also provide helper function for multiple file upload.
  • Multiple file upload helper
  • Ability to store any file extension
  • Rich documentation to assist in implementation of IBM Cloud Object Storage
  • Updated Sample Code for implemention in Major programming language
  • In terms of large file size, it takes time upload the file, though i saw a feature which i can use to compress the file size
  • Percentage completion for file upload maybe a socket connection to have real time access to file upload
  • There is highly reduce video tutorial content of IBM Cloud Object Storage on youtube or Udemy. It will be more easy to integrate if there is
Well suited for file upload especially with NodeJs environment then am yet to see sample code on Go language for IBM Cloud Object Storage implementation. I think it takes so much time when I want to upload media file on it likes of mp4 format. I will like to try it on real timevideo sharing but I will try this out soon and give a review

There is an initiative to design in automation and machine learning into all of Epiroc's surface mining drills. We want the drill to optimize drilling functions in order to lengthen life of drill components and save fuel. The drill runs predictive models based on the drilling of one hole in a pattern then decides based on the data how to optimize the next series of 100-200 holes. The machine will also predict maintenance cycles, in hours, based on past usage and sister machines in the field.
  • Python compiler is fast.
  • Storing and sharing files.
  • Security features.

  • Need a centralized menu system.
  • Faster compiler speeds for Python code.

IBM Cloud Object Storage is used as an extension to on-premise storage and for workloads that see unseen and rapid growth in size and require the timeless scalability, security, reliability, low latency over organization's VPN and cost efficiency that an on-prem solution cannot provide. This is used across the organization and departments and is the go-to-solution for us. The documentation provided is quite comprehensive and helped learn and implement IBM COS with ease.
  • IBM Cloud Object Storage is fast, secure, reliable and provides quick support when required.
  • Step by step documentation is easy to understand and implement for new users across the organization.
  • It is highly customizable and available based on the need of the use-case.
  • The planning for archival and scalability may require some improvement to reduce overall time.
  • Ease of use comes with a lot of reading the documentation, which should come by the tool itself.
It is well suited for object storage requirements of the organization where cost, security and quick solution is need of the hour. Works as an extension of already stretched storage solution and easy retrial of the stored object at any point in time. Cost effectiveness is a key USP.

I use IBM Cloud Object Storage primarily for rich data asset storage. As a developer who likes to play around with data, I find that IBM Cloud Object Storage is the perfect platform to host and manage unstructured data that can be made easily accessible either via the IBM portal or via an API call.
  • Highly secure way of storing and sharing data as it needs authorization to be accessible.
  • Pre-built API calls and code snippers make accessing data via secure APIs a breeze.
  • Easy to migrate data to and from data storage
  • Ability to manage large amounts of data with considerable speed
  • Unexpected errors are known to occur when downloading/uploading files.
  • Not easy to get started. In order to take full advantage of the platform and its features, additional training and reading documentation is needed.
  • The UI of the platform can get a bit confusing and it's easy to get lost.
Scenarios where IBM Cloud Object Storage is well suited:
* Building enterprise-grade data solutions with large teams
* Where an all-in-one platform is needed to solve complex problems that require an ecosystem of tools to work together
* Where IBM services already exist in the business
* Projects where scalability, security and technology integration are key drivers

Scenarios where IBM Cloud Object Storage is not well suited:
* Small teams with small budgets may be better off using open source tools
* Solving niche industry problems that require niche solutions

IBM Cloud Object Storage is being used as a repository of photos and images for our growing online community forum which is 13 years in existence now. Our media assets need to be kept in a reliable object storage service provider that is intuitive, affordable, and fast, and we find IBM Object Cloud Storage to be the perfect place for our files, videos, audio, and pictures. After we have uploaded these files into IBM Cloud Object Storage, we get the public URL of these files and make them available for view on our forum site. We also want to keep all other media assets in IBM as a back-up drive in case something happens to our phones and laptops. So far, we are enormously satisfied with IBM's storage service. There is just one feature that we hope to see in the future - that is the option to have a preview of every photo we've uploaded in IBM. When photos are in the thousands, a preview or thumbnail of each photo saves time in our decision-making whether to use it or not.
  • User-Friendly Console
  • Extremely Fast
  • No Monthly Subscription
  • Lots of Datacenter Options
  • Mobile Friendly Cloud Console
  • Preview of each photo
  • Option to rename a file
  • Integration with other apps such as Google Drive, One Drive, etc
IBM Cloud Object Storage is well suited as a content delivery network (CDN) service. It is also best for backing-up any file that can be accessed publicly or stored privately forever.
