Crunchbase under delivers for us

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Used to ID decision makers in companies. Primarily for M&A projects. We have found that 40% of the emails are invalid. We have never been able to reach customer support in the one year period we have tried to use their products. In my opinion, customer support apparently is a concept but not practiced.

  • Collect there subscription fees
  • tell the customer about the info they will not be able to access without an upgrade
  • talk about the non existent customer service.

  • need reachable customer support that actually calls back
  • better explanation of upgrades

Return on Investment

  • In our experience, contact info quality is poor
  • I think the Information accumulation format is very good
  • In my experience, descriptions of upgrades are poor

Mainly to create lists from zero to approach new leads via outbound efforts. It's now the only way we use to create those lists so we can have accurate companies according to our ICP and the filters that crunchbase is able to provide to us

Worth a purchase but not enough data on UK businesses

Pros

  • User friendly
  • Good filters
  • Exporting data out is easy

Cons

  • Not enough data on UK businesses.
  • Not much context in terms of individual businesses maturity stage.
  • Categorisation of firmographic data widely varies and often wrong such as industries.

Return on Investment

  • It certainly was a good starting point.
  • Helped build targeted data for sales prospecting.
  • Covered cost.
  • Limited use case as a database for the UK is fairly small.
  • Tagging was poor so slowed down list building.

Great tool for startups!

  • Information on VC investment categories and recent deals.
  • Information on members of VC organizations and other investors.
  • Information on other companies' fundings.

  • Not all VC funds are current.

  • A Linkedin Sales Navigator integration would be helpful to see recommended people within the org to reach out to.
