Great Timekeeping and Payroll Solution

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use Ceridian Dayforce for timekeeping and payroll within several of our business groups. Rolling this out as our new timekeeping solutions across the organization. Previously, each business group was utilizing their own timekeeping systems and this was being integrated to payroll. With everyone on the same system, this eliminates issues and streamlines our process.

Pros

  • ease of record keeping
  • employee usage is simple and straightforward
  • management of records and reporting

Cons

  • custom reporting

Return on Investment

  • increased productivity from a payroll standpoint

Ceridian Dayforce - Offers a Lot, but Some Problems Can be Annoying

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We currently use Dayforce to manage employee records, their files, and process payroll. We haven't utilized the entirety of Dayforce yet, but we are looking into implementing the onboarding and document management features first. At the moment, the majority of our companies use another system that assists with our payroll processing, but within this year, we would like to incorporate about 6 companies into Dayforce entirely.

Pros

  • Record keeping is fairly easy (compensation changes, Notes feature)
  • A whole library of how and what to do with processes within Dayforce (using DIG), including the support site with extremely helpful articles and posts asked by other users with similar questions
  • User-friendly for those not in an administration role (managers, employees)

Cons

  • While the support site is helpful and people assigned to my questions were great, I've struggled with communicating with people when it involved implementing something new into our production site. Response times were low, they had trouble understanding what we needed to be implemented, and didn't apologize for it. My guess is that because we're one of Ceridian's "smaller" clients. Regardless of the size of your client, we still would like proper service! This is so far the only feature I have had issues with; the majority of Dayforce has been easy to use and I can self-learn pretty easily.

Return on Investment

  • Positive impact: Less paper usage and helps encourage the HR and Payroll teams to print less and save files on employee profiles more.
  • Negative impact: Used a large portion of the company's billable hours because we were assigned a consultant who didn't understand the goal (despite explaining it multiple times), which caused errors and time to fix those errors. Communication with the consultant was low and made me believe that it's better to rely on my own experience/learning instead of having someone from Ceridian implement it.
  • Positive impact: Access to a lot of forums, guides, and comments and questions from other uses. Having these resources available helps me find the answers I need, plus it adds to on-the-go training.

Ceridian Dayforce - strong suite of products that can be great.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Dayforce is our Payroll Engine system for timekeeping and Time & Attendance management. We also use the Performance, Talent, Compensation, and Learning modules of Dayforce. Dayforce Wallet is another product that is rolled out across North America. This helps us have a one-stop-shop HCM solution for our region where everything from employee master data to payroll data to performance data lives, giving us a homogeneous platform to perform most of our HR calendar activities and then leveraging that rich data set to drive meaningful analytics.

Pros

  • Custom reporting.
  • Time management, Time & attendance
  • Compensation planning.

Cons

  • Elections management.
  • Retirement arrears management.
  • Talent card.

Return on Investment

  • Improved efficiency resulted in right sizing of Payroll team.
  • Tax and compliance piece managed by Ceridian as part of managed services.
  • Ability to integrate with global core HCM helped improve data quality.

Dayforce Review

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

I use Dayforce in my day to day to complete payroll for 6 different entities in different countries. I also use Dayforce as an HRIS system to onboard employees and ensure all information is entered to help with tracking and reporting when needed. The system has allowed me to be successful in my role as I have access to information, and I am able to complete tasks with the autonomy that Dayforce provides. The ticketing system and customer service support for Canada and the US entities is amazing! There is always a team ready to help and I find this super helpful when completing tasks under a deadline.

Pros

  • Payroll
  • HRIS Information Systems
  • Information Webinars
  • Emails with Updates and Key Dates and Deadlines

Cons

  • The customer support and ticketing system for UK and Ireland payroll

Return on Investment

  • Reduced reliance on paper

Dayforce is a great fit for large enterprise organizations

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

The business problems that Dayforce addresses is creating a very modular approach to our Global organization. While other HRIS systems were more exact in the set up that we could implement, Dayforce really lets us have more control over the structure that we design for our org in our system. The modularity allows us to better plan for our workforce future.

Pros

  • I really enjoy the ticketing system in Dayforce. We previous HRIS systems, I always had to call and stay on the phone when I needed help. The ticketing system much better fits my needs because I can easily put in a ticket and continue working.
  • I enjoy being connected with a CSM following implementation. Our CSM has been key in working out any kinks in our system.
  • I enjoy the Dayforce Education portal where I can upskill and learn on-demand.

Cons

  • A lot of reps that get assigned to tickets can be from other locations outside the US. Sometimes this can be difficult if the issue involves a US-based payroll or benefit issue.
  • In certain areas, the system could be more user friendly. Sometimes key things are hidden away and make it hard to find unless someone is able to show you.
  • The user interface could be a little bit livened up and "prettier."

Return on Investment

  • We received a positive impact on having Open Enrollment completed through Managed Benefits.
  • We have received a positive impact on payroll audit through managed payroll.
  • We have received a positive impact on employee profile modularity.
