I believe Freelancer is a Scam......I have been working on the project and i completed my work but they had locked my fund without any reason. Their had taken my money and now they are telling me that my client had not verified the account so i wont get my money.Which means that the person i worked for has not verified his account so my money that i have earned are not my.Guys please dont make account on freelancer.com its Waste of time. I believe they will Scam you like me.I have been waiting from past 7 days and still they are telling me same thing.

I used Freelancer to kick start my career as a software developer and consultant. Fifteen years ago, I started by fixing small CSS-related issues for a small amount of money, just to get as much experience and reviews as possible, and slowly moved to installing and building various CMS solutions, online shops in Shopify and wordpress to full-blown web app solutions.

Taking care that all involved parties are satisfied, as client so the employed staff.
Sorting and filtering the adverts.
Tracking project progression.

Enabling starters to get good chances of wining a bid.
Giving more room for unexperienced developers to do some job.
Help well experienced and long term users get bids easier, from time to time.

Gamification is very motivating.
Freelancer chat support is very important.
Milestones and payment tracking are great too.

As an unexperienced CS student, 15 years ago, it enabled my whole career.
Freelancer connected me to a lot of clients I still hold business ties with.

Worst ever experience. They took my $300 and closed my account for no reason. I tried to contact support and received auto generated replies. Not even a single person there to reply. I requested many times that they please transfer my funds in my account to my bank account. Every time they said that I violated their terms but never told me which one, and never talked about sending my money back to my bank account.

Don't keep someone's hard-earned money if you are closing their accounts.

Freelancer.com was my only source of income as I am a full time freelancer.
I have lost time and money because of Freelancer.com.

I've found they require and charge you $5 or more for every exam, even ones proving you can read/write/speak English or other languages.
I've found they charge you $100 for a verification fee that provides little to no value.
In my opinion, many of the postings on their site are scams.
I believe It is PAY-TO-WIN - the more you pay, the more of a chance you have to get work.........

Lots of up front costs, lots of time spent, zero ROI, in my opinion.
