The sales person oversold it!

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use Givesmart events, CRM, And fundraising. I focus more on CRM. I feel like the options for reporting, document settings, events, and fundraising are very primitive as opposed to how the salesperson described them. 1. The system would not allow me to upload our letterhead written on the left and top sides. I can only upload a jpeg of our logo at the top and have to mail letters that are not on our official letterhead. 2. I was not notified that for Organizations, using the contact name on the first line of the address is essential and that it populates the year-end letters, so we didn't do it. We created a custom field for the contact name, but now I need to change the records as I encounter them because of the preset mailing label used on the letters. 3. There is no option to allocate a single donation to multiple campaigns/ledgers. For example, we have sponsors that give 15k and want to allocate it to 3 programs. Instead of entering it once and splitting it, we have to do the process three times: check the number and donor.

Pros

  • Event guest check-in.
  • Event guest sitting arrangements.
  • Ability to email/print a thank you letter from the software.

Cons

  • Splitting one donation into multiple campaigns/ledgers.
  • More freedom to upload different setup letterheads.
  • Better reporting options.
  • Communications email newsletter options.
  • Creating better webpages for campaigns.
  • Create one Cardpointe account for all Givesmart, like CRM and Fundraise, and have the transactions be clear on where the funds came from to eliminate the confusion of two separate Cardpointe accounts.

Likelihood to Recommend

It looks pretty primitive for the options we need.

GiveSmart- Just Do It

Rating: 10 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

I utilize all three platforms GiveSmart offers: Donor CRM, Fundraise, and Events. Previously, our organization was using an event platform that was separate from our Donor CRM which caused duplication of efforts, data-entry and importation errors, and wasted time. Since implementing GiveSmart, each product integrates for a cohesive fundraising strategy, better donor communication, and a better giving experience.

Reports are a quick turnaround and I know the data in my CRM is accurate and timely!

Pros

  • Integration Options
  • Reporting
  • Peer-to-Peer Fundraising

Cons

  • Communication options could be improved- texting & emailing. The Event platform has an excellent interface for this. The other two do not.

Likelihood to Recommend

GiveSmart is an excellent option for small-shop fundraising departments. As a department of one, the integration of all 3 platforms with each other saves me invaluable time and effort.

If you have multiple events a year, or want to offer peer-to-peer fundraising options, this is the platform for you.

Easy to use for galas and auctions!

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

My non-profit uses GiveSmart for our annual fundraising gala. We use it to create the website for the event utilizing the features of ticket/sponsorship purchases and auction item bidding. The night of the event we use GiveSmart to check people in, alert attendees via text of relevant updates, and for auction bidding.

Pros

  • Silent auction bidding
  • Easy follow up functionality
  • Intuitive UX

Cons

  • Opt out option for credit cards (some donors prefer not using credit cards)
  • Would love examples of best use cases from clients
  • Credit card swiping is never 100%

Likelihood to Recommend

GiveSmart changed the game for us in registration and bidding for our annual fundraising gala. We had tried several different software options and GiveSmart is far and away the best. It's AWESOME for our silent auction in particular, easy to upload items and helpful minimum bid and bid increment suggestions.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use GiveSmart as a donor platform and to assist us with event and auction management.

Pros

  • auction software
  • text capability and notification
  • ease of making a donation online

Cons

  • high cost and required 3 year contract
  • need for integration seamlessly with an email blast platform such as constant contact or mailchimp that is inclusive and doesn't have to be paid for separately
  • In my experience, pushy sales people

Likelihood to Recommend

Well suited for orgs that run multiple events and want to integrate ticket sales and auction items all in one. Less suitable for orgs that don't need these things and for those that need a platform that does donor engagement in all formats and events and auction software all in one.

GiveSmart is a Smart Choice for Schools

Rating: 10 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Our advancement department uses GiveSmart Furndraise, Events and Donor CRM to implement and track all of our fundraising events and donations. We like how he different elements "talk" to each other so data does not need to be downloaded and uploaded manually. The interface is user friendly. Donor CRM provides us with an easy way to do track donor and solicitor activities, send thank you letters, and send year end tax letters.

Pros

  • direct importation of data from events and fundraise into donor CRM
  • user friendly interface
  • online help center and customer service

Cons

  • In donor CRM I want to be able to print address labels for large groups of thank you letters (not envelopes, which it does do) without having to download a spreadsheet and do my own mail merge in word.
  • The projectable thermometer in events does not update in real time when doing a live call for donations.
  • I would like individual bidding numbers tied to specific people as they register. When you add bidder numbers later we had multiple people end up with the # "0"
  • I would like projectable images/descriptions that can be controlled during a live auction

Likelihood to Recommend

It is great for our Gala event including silent auction, Rake-a-Thon, and Giving Day. It is not great for setting up sales for like a student store or other items to buy online.

GiveSmart Gets the Job Done

Rating: 7 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Our organization uses GiveSmart for our in-person event in Chicago, which sees about 500 guests per event. The main reasons we chose GiveSmart over other technology options are that the price is reasonable, and it offers different user types, meaning we can have our 50+ volunteers each log in to check people in, sell raffle tickets, help people check out, etc.

Pros

  • Allowing for multiple user types/roles
  • Letting donors cover the fees, and keeping those fees more reasonable
  • Very simple check in process which keeps lines moving
  • Relatively simple donation process

Cons

  • Lack of customization options when building each page. The website winds up not looking all that professional.
  • The reporting functionality is not very helpful at all. This is a main area of improvement we've asked for.
  • Better customization of emails and texts through GiveSmart. Right now, they are limited, and you can't make them look very nice.
  • The process of logging back into your account as a ticket purchaser or donor is very confusing. Most guests don't even know they can log in to access their tickets, make another donation, etc.

Likelihood to Recommend

GiveSmart definitely works for large in-person ticketed events which also involve auctions, paddle raises, and more. The workflow is relatively easy for guests, and especially for volunteers. We especially like how quickly you can add paddle raise donations to specific people's paddle numbers because it allows us to track in real time. The seating functionality has some odd quirks, but overall it works. We opted not to use it for our main donation capture organization-wide because it doesn't look as professional, nor is it as customizable, as some other options on the market.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We utilize GiveSmart for all of our online fundraising and donation forms. This includes regular one-time donations, recurring donations, crowdfunding, virtual food drives and t-shirt sales, and event ticket registration. We have also utilized the platform to help with registration for food recipients at our mobile food distributions.

Pros

  • Crowdfunding
  • Text to give
  • Event registration and microsites

Cons

  • Limited editability with landing pages (e.g. headers and footers to match look and feel of website)
  • Lack of embed options
  • Ease for recurring donors to update information

Likelihood to Recommend

GiveSmart seems to do a great job with its crowdfunding and event registration platforms. We would like to see more versatility with its fundraising platform, especially when it comes to customizing forms and landing pages, automation and variable fields, and integration with our website. We've also had hardship when it comes to integration with our CRM.

GiveSmart.

Rating: 7 out of 10
Incentivized

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use it for event registration and auction/paddle raise events, where we want people to swipe a credit card at check-in to make gifts.

Pros

  • Texting
  • Fairly easy check-in process.
  • Auction item presentation.

Cons

  • Their payout reports are quite bad. Information gets duplicated, etc.
  • Customer service is pretty hit or miss, though it's been mostly good lately.
  • Linking accounts of spouse/partners is tricky.

Likelihood to Recommend

The texting templates and features work well. The guest duplication search feature is usually good, though I wish it worked across campaigns rather than only in one campaign.

GiveSmart does well for our non-profit needs.

Rating: 8 out of 10
Incentivized

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

I work for a non-profit organization that holds a large fundraising event each year. GiveSmart is excellent software for us because it gives us a central location for event ticket sales, attendee check-ins on the day of the event, and donation collection and tracking. Having one software handle it all means we can be as organized as possible with many moving parts of our event needs!

Pros

  • Allowing multiple ticket levels and prices for our event.
  • We track seating charts and attendee check-ins, with multiple ways for attendees to input information —either by our staff or by the attendees themselves!
  • Donation logging, tracking, and payment collection!

Cons

  • Some event attendees have mentioned that they didn't find the website user-friendly for them, but that could be a user error on their part.
  • I personally find it sometimes frustrating to not be able to check-in multiple guests at once for our event - for example, a husband comes to the check-in alone, and wants to quickly check in both he and his wife - having to check him in, then wait while I separately check his wife in gets a little time consuming.

Likelihood to Recommend

It is well suited for the needs of a non-profit, especially for our significant event.

Rating: 6 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

The main issue we have is that you do not have tap to pay technology. We've been told it's coming for the past two years but we have yet to see it come to fruition. The Ipads we have to rent from Fello are OLD, not updated and most of the time don't work with the swipers provided. It can get quite embarrassing when you are trying to check in someone and you can't easily do so because the credit card swiper is acting up and you have to manually enter their information.

Pros

  • Ease of site set up
  • Auction set up
  • Reports are thorough and well organized

Cons

  • Check-in technology
  • Better way to personalize site
  • More options for tech rental

Likelihood to Recommend

We use GiveSmart for event management. Primarily for registration, ticketing and auctions. The main issue we have is that you do not have tap to pay technology.
