We use isolved as our core HCM platform to manage payroll, HR, time, and benefits in a single system rather than across multiple disconnected tools, which helps reduce manual entry and errors. Day to day, HR, payroll, managers, and employees all log into the same cloud-based system for tasks like onboarding, time tracking, and accessing pay and benefits information.
Pros
Payroll processing
Onboarding and offboarding
Self-service and reporting
Cons
Integrations with third‑party systems
Support quality
New releases sometimes introduce issues into existing workflows
Likelihood to Recommend
isolved is generally well suited for small to mid‑sized organizations that want a single system for HR, payroll, time, and benefits, especially if they have fairly standard processes and need to reduce manual entry and paper forms. It is less appropriate for very large or highly complex organizations that require deep customization, very advanced analytics, or extremely flexible integrations across many best‑of‑breed systems.
We use isolved to provide third-party payroll and benefits services to a wide range of temp agencies with wildly different setups and requirements. Some of our clients have a handful of employees, and some have thousands. Sometimes we only manage a company's temps, but we also often handle their managers and executives. And isolved can support all of it.
Pros
Automatically calculating benefit deductions.
Setting up and managing enrollments.
Running payroll for vastly different employee groups.
Cons
Enrollment Management is poorly optimized and takes forever to load.
Some isolved reports function in mysterious ways.
Functionality requests can take a long time to be implemented.

I have not yet run into a scenario that isolved is not appropriate. There have been a few specific functionalities that isolved couldn't accommodate, such as paid PTO plans. If employees frequently switch between different legal companies with different EINs, isolved really isn't built to handle that, and we've had to come up with creative solutions.
We use isolved for all of our Payroll, HCM, Time Keeping, etc clients. We have our hands in just about ever product that isolved offers for atleast one or more clients. Compliance Risk & Errors Automated Compliance: System automatically applies tax rules, labor laws, and benefits regulations across payroll and time. Minimizes risk of costly errors, audits, and compliance violations, especially across multiple states and offices.
Pros
Payroll
Onboarding
Availability of creating as many labor/org fields as needed
Cons
time keeping in general sometimes this can be tricky to use for both admins, employees, and middle management
Being able to go backwards and re distribute payroll labor. I know this is possible, but for example if department 200 wasn't created at the time payroll was processed it wont pick up the change after the fact.
Likelihood to Recommend
Well suited - certified payroll, as long as all appropriate fields are filled out at the time of payroll processing.
Less appropriate - clients who use scheduling, but only basic scheduling, have 45 different hour allocations due to groups of people. The scheduler will bog down the system, employee time cards will fail, and maintenance in general on these can be trouble some. Also shift diffs.
The [...] uses isolved for payroll processing. It allows us to enter our employees into the system using a timeclock software as well to track hours worked. This software is very user friendly and I highly suggest it to any company looking to make a change for a software that's easy to use. The help desk is also ready at any given moment to assist with any issues that one might have in navigating.
Pros
reports that are needed at any point are easily ran or created for you
has timeclock software that is compatible
can clock in off site via cell phone
Cons
so far isolved has covered all our needs as a small to mid size [...]
Likelihood to Recommend
they are well suited for this [...]or any [...] because they can handle as little as a few employees or as many as needed in the payroll system
We use isolved for payroll, timekeeping, benefits, applicant tracking, and onboarding/offboarding. This provides a solution that can start with the hiring and onboarding of an employee, from there employees are processed into the HRIS payroll platform where they are able to clock in and out, submit their new hire benefit enrollment, and view their paystubs. We have workflows set up that allow employees to update their taxes and other information within the system and it goes through an approval process before changes are made for payroll. When employees leave, we complete offboarding through the system. It can be a full cycle platform based on each companies needs.
Pros
Customer Support
Vast Reports and Report Writer Capabilities
Timekeeping
Customizations
Cons
More workflow capabilities
Being able to preview documents without having to download
Ability to copy a standard report and modify it without having to start over with a report writer
Likelihood to Recommend
There is always room for improvements and updates. More workflows and ways to make the process easier for both employees and managers as well as the HR department. More functionality improvements vs esthetics as the platform already looks great. More ways for a manager to be involved with their employees without having to add separate module.
I use isolved for time keeping, payroll and benefit tracking mainly. Its ease of use & accuracy are just a couple points that make this a reliable platform to use for our company needs.
Pros
Time keeping records
Reporting
General ease of use
Customer service is great
Cons
Ability to allocate Workers Comp codes to multiple time segments within a day for a given employee as needed
NOTE: since this was first posted, the ability to allocate Workers Comp codes has now been made available
Likelihood to Recommend
This is the only platform I have ever used. It has been very easy to learn how to use. There has never been an issue with accuracy. Yearly, monthly and even employee specific reports are generally easy to run and understand
timecard, time off requests, retrieving pay stubs, benefits, onboardings. All employees use it every day to clock in ad out and all of our new hires use it to complete onboardings
Pros
ease of use
time tracking
Cons
takes multiple attempts to login a lot of times
Likelihood to Recommend
it works well when it works but it is sometimes a struggle just to login to be able to clock in/out. The desktop version will ask for my email/password and I usually have to enter that 3 times before it logs me in
We use isolved for pretty much everything from having employees apply to eventually leaving the organization in retirement. This system helps them to complete all of their new hire paperwork electronically, saves that into easily accessible files, complete their benefit paperwork each year, clock in/out on a daily basis, easily manage their paid time off. It is used every single day to help not only the HR team to be more efficient but our employees as well.
Pros
Very quick to assist with questions we might have.
Their platforms are user friendly and easy to use.
Constantly making updates and improvements.
Cons
Customization on the new employee paperwork screens would be nice.
Admin user over the phone is a little harder to use/access.
More customization on the analytics screen.
Likelihood to Recommend
isolved really helps with making the employee experience better. Instead of having to log into multiple different accounts to take care of all of their HR/payroll needs, we can easily do that in one screen.
Our organization uses isolved as our primary tool, as we provide third party Payroll services to temp agencies across the country. We have client businesses that range from 50 employees into the thousands, and isolved is able to fit to each of their needs like a glove. Many clients have unique requirements due to their location or industry, and we are able to use the versatile and robust toolset of isolved to provide for all their needs.
Pros
Accurate payroll deductions and memos
Accurate benefit records
Smooth and automatic ACA reporting
Employee demographic and dependents updates
Cons
Benefits New Hire Probation periods are limited to one option per plan, resulting in duplicate plans to account for different NHPP.
Some report types are a bit limiting
Eligibility Rules can't be copied
Likelihood to Recommend
A company who wants to track their employee's ACA eligibility and compliance will be very happy with isolved's functionality, regardless of how many employees they have, saving the administrators a lot of time. A company with complex benefit eligibility and rules will usually be quite pleased with the variety of benefits isolved is capable of handling.
We use isolved as our payroll and HRIS solution. We run our benefits and COBRA tracking through isolved. We use the system for onboarding through offboarding and all employee functions through their employment. The employees clock in and out through the system to track times. This is done through the computer, timeclock or APP. The App is very functional for the employees.
Pros
The payroll processing has been a huge benefit in keeping our weekly payroll process on track and accurate.
The COBRA services are very beneficial and we do not have to do any tracking. I appreciate this process is no longer on my duty list.
I would say the third id probably the timekeeping. The system is effective for daily tracking and timecard review. The access to the time clock is exceptional with multiple access points. The adjustments for additional pay on holidays has been helpful.
Cons
Multiple pay rates would be an opportunity. Their solution was not effective for our use and was a challenge to work through.
I have not come across any vendor that has a solution for geofencing with rotating IP addresses. This is something we have asked for but not high on their priority list.
I do not have a third as we are happy with the system overall.
Likelihood to Recommend
I feel isolved is well suited for companies with 300 or less employees. In my experience anyway we seem to be running into a few issues that competitors have solutions for. I believe that isolved is good for most industries. I am not sure they would be a good solution for restaurants that need multiple pay rates for employees. There solution for this did not work effectively when we tried to implement it.
