We use Microsoft Advertising to advertise our product to those searching for relevant keywords. We are looking for a more sophisticated, sometimes older audience that tends to use Bing instead of Google. It also helps us maximize our reach past what we're doing on other search platforms. We are using a lot of what we're using on other search platforms on Microsoft Advertising as well.
Pros
Reaching a sophisticated audience at enterprise-sized companies
Firmographic & Demographic targeting abilities
Lower CPCs
Cons
Better visibility into the LinkedIn targeting they offer and easier ways to utilize it
Likelihood to Recommend
I think it's best when you're looking for enterprise buyers and looking to maximize what you're doing on Google Ads.
It provides platform to have payments done on basis of clicks from end-user.
Analytical power for tracking performance.
Pros
Target audience on basis of location, interest, etc.
Platform that allows to place ads
Integrated UserSupport via Chat GPT
Cons
Google Ads is famous amongst Computer communities
Third party integrations are not on higher side
Limited ad format support

Microsoft is a brand and standard in field of IT. So yes, its always amongst the top options for an organization which is implementing technology and what best partner than Microsoft Technology.
Microsoft Ads is used for lead generation. We run ads on the Bing and partner search networks. Users search, click on our ads, and then sign up for our app. It's a great advertising solution for us to target the USA, as that's where the majority of its searches are concentrated.
Pros
Advertising
Lead Generation.
Analytics and Insights.
Market information.
Cons
Would be great if we could solely target business customers.
More advertising reaching in Europe.
Analytics on conversions from app sign-ups - more information would be great.
Better conversion tracking.
Likelihood to Recommend
If you are looking to target businesses in the USA, I recommend using Microsoft for your lead generation or awareness needs. It isn't as effective if you are looking to target Europe or Asia.
It helps us in new user acquisition from the paid channel - search engine marketing. We currently import everything from Google search ads directly to Microsoft Advertising (formerly Bing Ads) platform via the importation function, as how it works is very similar to google search ads. Currently we would like to scale our accounts in Microsoft Advertising.
Pros
account manager support
new clear interface
supporting direct importation from google ads
new product betas
Cons
performance max does not work as well as google ads
reporting function can be improved
would like to see more 'overview' pagas where all the bid/budget protfolios from different accounts are listed
Likelihood to Recommend
- keyword match types can be even more precist, when it comes to what kind of keywords targeting can actually help us convert.
- performance max campaign should be improved in terms of helping business to scale and target the right audiences
- would appreciate more guidance on how to scale accounts
We are a marketing agency that runs Microsoft Ads for many of our clients as part of a multi-channel marketing strategy. Microsoft Ads fits as a supplemental channel to Google Ads to maximize visibility and impression share for key search terms for our clients on Microsoft search engines. In some cases it can be low hanging fruit, by capturing revenue with lower competition, but it doesn't always come with big scale potential.
Pros
It is easy to import Google Ads and keep them synced to Microsoft Ads, and make minor adjustments that stay different in Microsoft, such as bid strategies, ad group statuses, etc
Microsoft Ads in a lot of cases is less competitive than Google Ads, so cost per click is cheaper. This makes it so your budget can go a little farther, and you don't have to spend a ton on Microsoft to start getting results
The user interface is really easy to use. It feels very familiar if you have used Google Ads, and it is quicker to navigate than Google Ads in some cases as well.
Cons
In my opinion, the Audience network is horrible. I think it is a big waste of spend, and there's no way to turn it off completely, which is very dumb.
In my opinion, the level of customization with custom columns and metrics leaves much to be desired. You can't create custom columns based on conversion goals, or even create something like a budget utilization column to easily see if your campaigns are spending their full budgets.
In my opinion, the quality of keyword matching is not nearly as good as Google, so you get some really "far-out" search terms, and ones that don't make any sense. For this reason, conversion rates are typically not as strong as Google Ads, especially for shopping ads.
Likelihood to Recommend
I think Microsoft Ads is well suited for eCommerce businesses that are already running Google Ads but want to expand their reach and get some additional revenue at a similar return on ad spend as Google Ads. It is best suited for companies that are spending well over $10-15k per month on Google Ads. Below that, it might make more sense to just consolidate spend to Google, depending on search volume and demand. Microsoft Ads is a good supplemental channel for search and shopping ads, but not so much for display ads.
Wow....unbelieveable how bad the service is......our account gets suspended.....OK fine....why?....they send a standard email with 13 vague reasons under the sun with no direction as to which one it is. We appeal the suspension to try to find out the specifics.....after 9 weeks of waiting and receiving the same email 3 times...."we can't tell you.....it was decided by our review team"....alright...let me speak to someone on the review team....."sorry....they aren't customer facing".......Microsoft is HORRIBLE!!!
Cons
Providing accurate customer feedback on suspensions
Providing accurate customer feedback on suspensions
Providing accurate customer feedback on suspensions
I believe it is an unbelievable and worst system given company of this magnitude. Advertising account suddenly got banned permanently without specific reasons given. No appeal mechanism. End of the road and customer agent keeps wishing me and my company well without Microsoft ads. Watch your every single step in Microsoft ads, they will ban your account permanently all of the sudden without telling you what's happening and saying they are protecting privacy so unable to reveal the reason that why your account got banned and there is no way of appealing or revisiting at all. All of sudden, your account is banned forever and the decision is permanent and they can't reveal the reason. Worst experience ever.
Pros
Fast and polite customer service agent
Multiple customers service contacts channel
Cons
Dysfunctional reviewing system and workflow
No appeal system
Bad customer guidance
Bad system email with no effective and constructive information
Likelihood to Recommend
I believe it is the worst kind of ads and accounts quality reviewing process. Your account is banned permanently and they are unable to reveal which part of your account goes wrong No ways to appeal or revive the account. Just dead and no specific reason given. The reason given is your account did something wrong and we are unable to reveal the reason due to privacy reasons and we wish you well, bye. Worst kind of process.
We tried to use Microsoft advertising. Primarily because this is the only way to access DuckDuckGo search engines marketing. We found on our website that DuckDuckGo what is the second most common used after Google. We’ve been using Google advertising for many years and so we decided to add DuckDuckGo.
Pros
They have a person who cannot help you, quickly get back to you.
Cons
In my opinion, their ad platform is the worst in the social media industry.
They don’t seem to have the ability to distinguish the difference between legitimate and fraudulent accounts.
Once they mistakenly label an account as fraudulent, they have no way of correcting their mistake.
Likelihood to Recommend
Despite using our account for advertising with every other social media company, Microsoft flagged ours as fraudulent. After dealing with them for weeks, we finally got to a manager, who said that they didn’t know anything, couldn’t provide any information, and was unable to do anything about it. It seems odd, but it would flagger account every time we try to upload the campaigns from Google directly into their ad manager. I would suggest if you try and use their platform, don’t tell them you’re using Google cause they seem to have a thing against it. Once your account is flagged, they have no reasonable way of resolving it, nor they are able to offer any support. You’re better off to just try a different way. Ultimately, just don’t use Microsoft advertising if you can possibly avoid it. Hopefully soon DuckDuckGo will have their own advertising platform and we can eliminate Microsoft given the terrible time we have working with this one of many, social media platforms.
Terrible! I typically only recommend Bing for a select few campaigns that I mirror over from Google so it doesn't represent a huge part of my business or media spend, but most recently, a client asked to have a new Bing account and campaigns created. I created them on July 15. It is now August 31st and the ads are still not running. Reached out to support who opened a ticket and responded on August 9th letting me know the "indexing issue" had been resolved and they would be running within two-three weeks. That was over three weeks ago. Got in touch with support again today and they said they would look into it and get back to me in 5-7 days. Absolutely unacceptable. Terrible customer service. Terrible user interface. Triggers highly inaccurate and off-base search queries through phrase match so constantly having to go in and do negative keyword sculpting to correct. Stick with Google.
Cons
Poor user interface
Poor customer service
Poor search query results via phrase match keywords
Deceptive advertising (Offer $500 on $100 spend is a scam)
Advertising network is comprised of click fraud sites, and it's the default on MS Ads
Likelihood to Recommend
really wanted to give Microsoft a chance, but unfortunately, they proved beyond a shadow of a doubt to be an immoral and untrustworthy company. They offered $500 if you spend $100 on advertising, to which I agreed after years of leaving the platform. Not that it's a lot of money compared to what I was going to be spending on ads, but the fact that they reneged on this without even a review (they just sat on it and never answered questions about why we didn't qualify for it) was quite telling of the culture of deception. But I thought, ok ... maybe it slipped someone's attention, after all, I was going to spend thousands on ads per month. SO... I started advertising. The first thing I noticed in Google Analytics, is that the default advertising network was maximizing click spend on what appeared to be dubious sites, EVERY ONE had a 100% bounce rate, and 0.00 time on the page. What put me over the top was that after an investigation they said there was no evidence of click fraud. This was the straw that broke the camel's back. At this point, I was convinced that this was just a scam at the highest corporate level. Sad but true.
