An easy-to-use and powerful device management suite
Use Cases and Deployment Scope
We use N-able N-sight RMM to manage all of our clients' Windows and Mac devices. We're able to remotely assist clients, push security updates, script installations of software and much more. We manage about 400 devices across 25 clients. We also use the SentinelOne EDR solution that is packaged with N-able N-sight RMM to handle antivirus.
Pros
- The remote access options are solid - you can take control, open a console, or a mix with file system access
- Scheduled PowerShell scripts has been an easy way to deploy software using N-able N-sight RMM
- The dashboard provides a good, daily overview of any devices with problems. The different daily/hourly checks provide good insight and often help us prevent problems.
Cons
- Far too often, the dashboard doesn't sync correctly with devices and they show as alerting when the alerts have cleared.
- The script runner sometimes error out and there isn't a clear reason why.
- We often have overage charges when computers are put into spares and the dashboard doesn't sync correctly that their features have been turned off.
- The chat feature sometimes just doesn't work, not sure why.
Likelihood to Recommend
It's great for the basics of device management for Windows PCs, I wouldn't recommend it for Mac other than asset management. The patch management and monitoring templates are helpful for the day-to-day, and the "Take Control" feature for remote assistance allows us to provide fast service to clients - we often are on a machine within 5 minutes of receiving a ticket.
