An easy-to-use and powerful device management suite

Rating: 5 out of 10
Incentivized

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use N-able N-sight RMM to manage all of our clients' Windows and Mac devices. We're able to remotely assist clients, push security updates, script installations of software and much more. We manage about 400 devices across 25 clients. We also use the SentinelOne EDR solution that is packaged with N-able N-sight RMM to handle antivirus.

Pros

  • The remote access options are solid - you can take control, open a console, or a mix with file system access
  • Scheduled PowerShell scripts has been an easy way to deploy software using N-able N-sight RMM
  • The dashboard provides a good, daily overview of any devices with problems. The different daily/hourly checks provide good insight and often help us prevent problems.

Cons

  • Far too often, the dashboard doesn't sync correctly with devices and they show as alerting when the alerts have cleared.
  • The script runner sometimes error out and there isn't a clear reason why.
  • We often have overage charges when computers are put into spares and the dashboard doesn't sync correctly that their features have been turned off.
  • The chat feature sometimes just doesn't work, not sure why.

Likelihood to Recommend

It's great for the basics of device management for Windows PCs, I wouldn't recommend it for Mac other than asset management. The patch management and monitoring templates are helpful for the day-to-day, and the "Take Control" feature for remote assistance allows us to provide fast service to clients - we often are on a machine within 5 minutes of receiving a ticket.

One of the best RMMs on the market.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We can manage a large number of devices with very few personnel resources at our company. We have the peace of mind of having this large number of devices under control and receiving alerts in the event of any anomalies.

Pros

  • Time savings.
  • Peace of mind.
  • Total control.

Cons

  • Implement new features and improvements to the dashboard.
  • Remove antivirus (to leave EDR).
  • Do not apply price increases every year.

Likelihood to Recommend

I consider RMM to be a very interesting solution for management scenarios involving 100-400 nodes. In both large and small scenarios, I believe there are other solutions that offer better value for money.

N-Able - MSPs best friend.

Rating: 8 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Our organization uses N-able to centrally manage multiple IT clients and deliver high-quality managed services. We use to distribute software, EDR, security, patch management, and backups. N-Able Me provided us with various ready-to-use scripts that we use daily for automation and to save our techs' time.

Pros

  • Alerts via EMAIL and TEXT.
  • Health Monitoring.
  • Automation Cookbook.

Cons

  • EDR implementation done badly.
  • Cove Backup integration done badly (separate console).
  • Remote support software has many bugs.

Likelihood to Recommend

MSPs that provide managed services can benefit significantly from N-Able N-sight, given the years of optimization and support this platform has provided to other MSPs. It is less appropriate for small businesses without dedicated IT personnel to monitor and implement the various products that come with RMM, such as EDR, Backups, Patch management, DNS Filtering, and password management.

N-able N-sight RMM has incredible value

Rating: 8 out of 10
Incentivized

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use N-able N-sight RMM as our primary RMM, which is deployed to all of our managed endpoints. It provides the primary method through which we remotely manage and control endpoints, provide end user help desk support, administer patch management, deploy software and settings and monitor system health, as well as provide mostly automated maintenance behind the scenes.

Pros

  • Remote Access - both Desktop Control and Background Access
  • Endpoint Health Monitoring
  • Automated Tasks & Maintenance

Cons

  • Software Deployment
  • Vulnerability Scanning & Management
  • There's a time delay sometimes on manually run tasks

Likelihood to Recommend

Any scenario where an MSP requires a robust, flexible system that's easy to grow with is a good fit for N-sight. For smaller operations, or for organizations where growth beyond a certain point is unlikely, there may be better-suited alternatives.

N-Able RMM its good

Rating: 9 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

N-able RMM has been a core part of our MSP business since day one. It allows us quick visibility and access to our clients systems. The wall display gives us visibility of alerts for issues both those baked in and custom scripts we have to monitor client specific systems.

Pros

  • Remote Access
  • Monitoring
  • Backup monitoring
  • Backup

Cons

  • improved performance when switching screens when remoted to a device with multiple screens
  • Linux and mac support could be better, but are already better than most

Likelihood to Recommend

We'e used N-able RMM and it predecessors at a couple of MSP's businesses over the years and found it a good fit for small and medium sized teams. For larger companies the lack of direct tie into a ticketing/billing such as offered by, for example, ConnectWise may be a limiting factor.

Aging Product Needs Stability Improvements, In my Opinion

Rating: 6 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Current RMM tool for managing several hundred endpoints (patching, security, monitoring). Remote background as needed.

Pros

  • Patching
  • Alert logging
  • Easy of deployment

Cons

  • AV solutions are frequently buggy I've found.
  • Agent individual services occasionally bug on removal.
  • Support has been going downhill since the N-Able acquisition, in my opinion.
  • Dated portal.

Likelihood to Recommend

The RMM has a lot of issues with its security deployment. Often slows client PCs. Removals are buggy. N-able RMM has been slow to address in my opinion. Generally, patching operates smoothly and easily.

Decent product. Horrible service

Remote connection and monitoring

Pros

  • Dashboard
  • control panel

Cons

  • Custromer Service
  • Automated systems
  • Ease of use and management

Likelihood to Recommend

Their product is okay for smaller organizations although the remote connection can be finicky and clunky. Maybe if you had dedicated people for it, it would be easier, but I did not find it helpful as we grew. Their customer service is atrocious. Even basic things like getting a receipt can be a challenge for them. I left them and would recommend others to stay away.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

[N-able RMM (formerly Solarwinds RMM)] software package offers us a wide assortment of tools at our disposal while not being tied down to one PC. We are free to log in to the interface anywhere their is an internet connection. Installation of the package can be pushed out to all machines connected to the domain via group policies. The MSP Institute offers work at your own pace training for more than just the product. Need marketing help, how about sales help? The MSP Institute has it. It has proven to be a valuable training tool for management and our technicians. The support we receive from our account rep is top notch. I highly recommend the SolarWinds products and I am impressed by the expertise of their staff.

Pros

  • Support
  • Functionality
  • Reliability

Cons

  • Reporting
  • Integration
  • Learning curve

Likelihood to Recommend

SolarWinds patch management has had issues over the years. Sometimes requiring manual intervention to get resolved. The UI [with N-able RMM (formerly Solarwinds RMM)] makes it easy to see status of systems and identify any alerts easily. Remotely monitoring the status of servers/computers. Managing the systems, patching, systems maintenance and remote support.

Great product overall

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

The product is being used by the IT department to support both in-house staff and all our customers with an IT Support contract. This allows the technicians to remotely connect to end-user machines and resolve faults in a timely manner with full visibility of the end-user. I find the product extremely efficient.

Pros

  • Remote connection is fast and robust.
  • Remote background features are excellent.
  • Lightweight product does not slow down end user machines.

Cons

  • There are some minor bugs I would like to see resolved.
  • Functionality for macOS is not as good as Windows.
  • Sometimes the installer fails for unknown reasons.

Likelihood to Recommend

The product is perfect in a managed service provider environment. Our customers are able to call the help desk technicians and have remote support within seconds which makes a huge impact on the trust and confidence our customers have with the Support team. Being able to remote into a machine without going through a process that requires end-user input is perfect
