Keeping in mind how cheap this service really is, the pros outweigh the cons up to a certain limit.

However if having historic data, better reporting and visibility on content of past emails... … Mandrill is slightly more expensive but the data & reports that you receive from it make the service worth it.

Also, SendGrid is the most economical value of the 4, while 2nd place goes to MailChimp with regard to pricing. … The graduated pricing allows the price to grow with use.

Pricing can be a double-edged sword -- you can easily underpay for a plan and get hit with big overages, and you can just as easily overpay for a plan you don't need.
