Overall Satisfaction with SendGrid Marketing Email
SendGrid is used, primarily, by our development team for products that span our entire business. SendGrid allows our developers an easy way to deliver e-mail from our applications to our users without having to manage and maintain an e-mail server infrastructure internally. The tools that SendGrid makes available for the price makes utilizing their services a no-brainer decision.
- Robust API for delivering bulk e-mails or transactional messages to users
- Top-notch features you'd expect from any enterprise grade ESP (inbox, bounce, open tracking, click tracking, etc)
- Powerful user interface for managing many aspects of your campaigns (email templates, user lists, etc)
- Excellent inbox deliver-ability
- White-labeling features that are simple to implement (to hide the fact that SendGrid is your ESP for outgoing e-mails)
- User interface can be non-intuitive for some features
- API Documentation is lacking in some places (but user support is top notch and responsive, so answers can be had relatively easily)
- We do not have to manage or maintain our own e-mail infrastructure. This saves thousands of dollars annually in server and human costs.
- By off-loading the infrastructure of e-mail servers, we improve availability of our services and reduce our own infrastructure complexity
- By having an easy way to deliver e-mail messages which are virtually guaranteed to be delivered, we have been able to increase communication with our users, leading us to better user engagement and higher conversions.
- Mandrill, SendGrid Marketing Email and Amazon Simple Email Service
SendGrid offers a ready-to-go solution to delivering e-mails to your users. They have integrated the most popular features/requirements for managing the Marketing aspect of your e-mail list with one of the best APIs for managing your lists, campaigns, creatives, and messages. Offering a one-stop solution that suits a lot of the needs that many businesses have.
The closest competitor to them is Mandrill/MailChimp, however the business model change that Mandrill instituted a few years ago makes it a significantly more expensive platform for a new/small company who is trying to keep a close eye on costs.
SendGrid offers a good product as well, however they have not improved the product in years (since being acquired by RackSpace) and Mandrill has long since surpassed them in features (though, SendGrid may be a less expensive option/have a larger free-tier).
Amazon Simple Email Service is a completely programmatic service with no user interface included. If you're a developer not having to support any users who need GUI interfaces, and don't want the GUI interface yourself (for tracking, etc), or need a very robust system/are building your own ESP, than SES is probably a fine solution for you.
