Overall Satisfaction with Adobe Acrobat DC

I use Adobe Acrobat DC every day. Adobe Acrobat DC is a powerful tool for working with pdf (image) files. The first tool I use frequently is the OCR conversion tool. This tool makes the images readable as if they were text files instead of image files. After running OCR, I can run word searches within the imaged document. Using Adobe Acrobat DC's OCR feature also makes using Spotlight a useful tool for identifying a file that contains a certain word or phrase. The OCR conversion tool also allows me to convert a pdf file into a Word, Excel, or TXT file. I find I get better results if I convert a pdf into a TXT file and then import the text into a Word document. Another useful tool, but not for regular purposes, is the redaction tool. I use the redaction tool to clean up pdfs that are "images of images."
  • Scan documents for saving as pdf files
  • OCR conversion of image (pdf) files
  • Creating text documents from scanned documents
  • Combining images into one file
  • The Adobe Acrobat DC file comparison tool lags behind the file comparison tool found in Word
  • OCR speed could be improved
  • The pdf-to-Word and pdf-to-Excel tools frequently don't work due to formatting put in the output file by Adobe Acrobat DC.
  • The PreFlight tool seems a little buggy. Sometimes it works without a hitch, other times I have to try the process several times to get a document in good order.
  • The Enhance tool sometimes makes the resulting file (pdf) look markedly worse than the original. Enhancement should not cause text to become blurry.
  • Converting Word and Excel files to pdf
  • OCR
  • Redaction
  • Creating a Rich Text Format file from a pdf
  • Adobe Acrobat DC saves me money by giving me the ability to search within documents without having to pay a third-party vendor to OCR the document
  • Adobe Acrobat DC saves me time because its OCR function works significantly faster than the OCR functions of third-party vendors which OCR documents in the cloud.
  • Adobe Acrobat DC saves me time by allowing me to convert pdf or Word documents into forms.
Adobe Acrobat DC is still the best pdf platform available.
I rely on Adobe's adherence to its security features because I use Adobe Acrobat DC to provide legal services to clients. Client confidentiality is a must, and this means that I have to ensure that client documents -- including pdfs -- are secure. Acrobat has met these requirements for years now.
ABBYY FineReader promises better OCR recognition, but Finereader for Mac doesn't do 1/3 of the things that Adobe Acrobat DC does. It fails to meet my needs. Readdle PDF Expert is a fine product, but still, a lightweight compared to Acrobat DC. Using PDF Expert after using Adobe Acrobat DC is like going from a modern fighter jet to a WW I-era biplane. Both fly, the modern fighter jet, is faster and more useful.

Adobe Acrobat DC Support

For a while, Acrobat DC crashed pretty frequently. I contacted Adobe Acrobat support about the problem. At first support was unable to provide a solution. After about a month Adobe's software engineers provided a fix. I just wish it had taken less than a month to solve the problem.
