Overall Satisfaction with Adobe Acrobat
[Adobe Acrobat Reader DC is] used on request by specific users and departments in-line with their job roles/tasks. As a product it is used in part for the creation of PDF documents and to review/edit ones received as well a means to extract document info which can then be further tweaked as required.
Pros
- Edit function is very useful and fonts are plentiful
- Combining PDF's or specific pages from different files is very useful, especially if scanning has resulted in a page or two that needs to be redone - avoiding a full re-scan of a large document.
- Sharing file for review and tracked changes is also very useful.
- Digital Signatures for signing contracts is very useful and time-saving.
Cons
- Some icons in the toolbar could be improved so they are more immmediately recognisable. Saves time having to hover over them to see what they actually do.
- Export function to other packages may be helpful for those not in the Microsoft ecosystem (e.g. Google docs).
- Has simplified the co-editing of documents/contracts without the need to continually print and send off.
- Time saved in being able to sign documents has certainly been welcomed, especially during close of business which would have otherwise been pushed into the next working day(s).
- Integration with Other Systems
- Ease of Use
Works as an extension of Office products in general so very limited training required for users of the desktop.
Ticks the boxes from a security point of view for us.
Most functionality for documents can be done to an extent in MS Word but you're limited from the starting point of how the file format has been saved (i.e. PDF vs .doc). Whilst you can certainly get information on the content of a PDF in Word, you are limited in some functions. Adobe is very much a specialised product range and those who use it, are aware of the same. I've tried Foxit but to be fair have always used Adobe much in the same way I use Microsoft and it's a combination of what you know and are comfortable with.
