Up Your Audio Production Game with Adobe Audition
Overall Satisfaction with Adobe Audition
I host and produce two different podcasts. For one show, I am a co-host with two others and produce all of our episodes. For both podcasts, I use Adobe Audition to create a consistent format and sound for our two distinct audiences. In addition to optimizing levels for our guest interviews, I also produce, edit, and insert advertisements as well as into/outro segments and teasers
Pros
- normalize audio levels
- multiple track production
- recording and editing audio files
- audio export and compression
Cons
- steep learning curve for novices
- automate audio track ducking
- vector based volume fine tuning
- we're providing a better experience for our listeners
- our audio sounds more professional
- we impress our paid sponsors
For more than ten years, We used Apple's Garage Band audio editing software to produce all of our podcast episodes. This was an easy, intuitive platform for quickly compiling and editing our episodes. Garage Band, however, lacks much of the functionality and features for fine tuning that Adobe Audition provides. Once we were ready to up or game, I took the plunge into learning Adobe Audition and was immediately impressed with the results.

Evaluating Adobe Audition and Competitors
Yes - I previously used the free Apple Garage Band audio production software that came with my Macbook. It was simple and met our basic needs when we first launched a new podcast. As our audience grew and caliber of guests improved, I steeped up my production game by starting to use Audition and am happy with my decision.
