Overall Satisfaction with Appian
We use Appian for a couple purposes.
1) To manage our Investment Portfolios. All creation of portfolios and workflow is done through Appian and interfaces with PAM for investments.
2) We also use to send wire payments. All approvals and submissions are done through Appian.
Appian helps us create a standard for wire submission and portfolio creation and provides a paper trail for all approvals.
Pros
- Very user friendly.
- Provides Audit support by documenting the approval process.
- Very large database or storage and can streamline a various amount of processes within the organization.
Cons
- Sometimes have compatibility issues with browser but could be based on company restrictions.
- Search through history could be improved slightly. Sometimes have issues finding portfolios and workflow.
- Has created a more streamlined process for submitting wire requests.
- MDG and SAP
We also use SAP in our company for our accounting system and MDG as our master data warehouse. MDG is very similar to Appian in that is houses master data and provides a streamlined process for various requests and will interface with SAP. Both are web based systems and I feel the both provide a great solution.
