Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use both Payroll and Human Resources (incl. self-service).

Pros and Cons

Payroll process with direct deposit, taxes, EE withholding
Self service website, though it's not perfect
Customer service is usually very helpful and resourceful

Web based HR is still missing a LOT of functions. No point in going there yet.
The communication between HR and Payroll systems is bad. Hoping for a resolution of problems once HR is fully online.
Payroll works well on desktop. But the online system is not very useful yet.

Return on Investment

It's wasted TONS of time during installment of the review module
It's still costing too much time to use HR (desktop)
Payroll is working well and has a positive impact.

Alternatives Considered

I've only used other payroll systems, not payroll/HR combinations. So I can't really compare.

Support sometimes takes quite a while to get back to a first email, but they are always friendly and try to help. Again, it sometimes takes a bit to get a resolution. But most of the time, once they know your problem, they will find the solution quickly and help resolve it.

Usability

Payroll works well. HR desktop doesn't. Web based Ascentis not fully functional yet, so no point in going there. High hopes for it!

Likelihood to Recommend

Payroll is working well. HR on the desktop is very un-user-friendly. The transition to web-based is very promising, but taking way too long. Vacation accruals and processing through email chains is nice, but the employee review process is clunky and not intuitive. The idea is great, but the managers hate to go find it, so they don't bother except at year-end.

Some good, some not-so-good.
