Overall Satisfaction with Automox

We use Automox for our patching, configuring mass devices, and remediating vulnerabilities while also using it to access our devices remotely. Automox addresses issues where a device is not compliant or needing a patch installed. This is especially useful when it is a critical vulnerability patch as we can push it to all our devices simultaneously. We also appreciate being able to use the remote control option even if they are not connected to our LAN or VPN. We can access their devices as long as they are connected to the Internet.

Pros

  • Remote Control
  • Patching
  • Reporting Vulnerabilities
  • Integration with Rapid7

Cons

  • There should be an on-page refresh button/option instead of having to use the browser's refresh button.
  • Sometimes the Agent services on PCs stop randomly and have to be restarted.
  • More customizable reports.
  • Time savings as patching and software deployment can be done in bulk.
  • Increased ability to act on endpoints as they do not need to be connected to the LAN or VPN to access. Just the Internet.
  • Reduction of on-premise infrastructure as it is cloud-based.
We were able to have a clearer view of which devices were out of compliance or needed a patch. We were able to make sure every device could be configured, patched, and secured. It is no longer a manual process of pushing patches every Tuesday night, but rather it is now automated with prompts to reboot sent to all users.
Aside from a few issues where the service stops on a few devices and needs to be restarted again, Automox has improved our ability to take action on my endpoints from a single console. As mentioned before, it is useful to our organization as even if a remote worker has issues connecting to the VPN, they can still be accessed through Automox, as long as they are connected to the Internet.
Automox was easier to install and deply, it is more lightweight, and it allows up the ability to remote in to a user even when they are not connected to the LAN or VPN. It also automates the patching and software deployments in a better manner. The UI for me was also easier to navigate and use.

Yes

Did Automox live up to sales and marketing promises?

I wasn't involved with the selection/purchase process

Yes

Would you buy Automox again?

Yes

When it comes to automating patch deployments and packaged software distributions, it is really well-suited and useful. Automox is also easy to install, deploy, and manage on the devices that use it. It also is very lightweight compared to some other options. It also supports multiple OS environments. Their support and documentation is also very useful to use and easy to find.
