Use Cases and Deployment Scope

The finance department uses it frequently. We use it to set up new tax rates within our accounting sytem.

Pros and Cons

It breaks out all the different rates that make up one rate for a specific city
It has a very clean, user-friendly layout

It rounds tax rates and that can result in incorrect calculations occasionally

Sometimes it's very helpful and other times we have to seek other resources

None

We have not integrated Avalara with any of our systems

Usability

It's easy to access but occasionally glitches if I try to use a specific address when looking up sales tax rates. If it doesn't like an address I enter, it essentially kicks me out.

Professional Services (nexus studies, registrations, backfiling, etc.)

We have not have the pleasure of using additional capabilities at this time.

Alternatives Considered

Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate

Sage is our accounting system but it's not really comparable to what Avalara does. Avalara is the only tax-specific platform I have used.
