Overall Satisfaction with Avalara
We use Avatax and returns. We currently use it for one of our subsidiaries and as of 1/1/21 we'll be bringing on another subsidiary to use both Avatax and returns. We started selling online in January so the Avatax does the work of assigning the appropriate tax rate to each transaction.
- Returns and related reporting.
- Calculation of appropriate tax rate on each transaction.
- Quick response time on support questions.
- Ability to file Guam returns.
- Give a bit more guidance on local registrations.
- Support providing more specific responses as opposed to pointing us in the direction of reading about a topic in general.
- A lot of time has been saved by using Avalara returns.
- It's allowed for accuracy in providing the correct tax rate for each transaction.
- I would say we've saved on one staff accountant position due to the time savings.
- NetSuite
It wasn't that difficult. From an accountant's perspective, I mainly reviewed the codes and the setup. We have an internal NetSuite team that managed the integrations and they never indicated that it was difficult.
- Avalara Returns
The returns services has saved us a lot of time. Many states' tax returns require keying in cities, counties, special tax jurisdictions, etc. All of this takes a lot of time keying and reconciling. Having the Avalara returns service allows us to focus more on review and compliance as opposed to keying in data.
I'm not aware of us looking at other vendors.
