Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We are using Avalara to calculate our Sales tax in the US, GST and HST in Canada, and VAT in EMEA countries where we have business. It basically allows us to centralize our taxes in one tool and facilitates filings for us.

Pros and Cons

Pros

Sales Tax calculation per state.
Fast response to tickets.
Cares for customer opinion.

Cons

Report setup could be more user-friendly.
Recommend tax consultants that they know as reference for customers' who need one.

Return on Investment

It has definitely been very useful in the US for sales tax calculation. We spent too much time before filing each state individually (each form is different, and you have to log in to each website).

Systems Integrated With

We are in the process of integrating NetSuite.

we are currently still doing the integration process as we are still migrating to NetSuite.

Usability

There is room for improvement, but we are very happy with the solution and with the time we save in using the tool and services.

we centralized all out tax filings in avalara which is always a good idea if you try to standardize your process, it makes all more simple. Avalara also helped us with the VAT registration process in Austria and it worked smoothly.

We never used any other tool; we worked with tax consultants in the past and did the filings manually.
