Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use BambooHR to manage our staff time, vacation/sick time, communications with staff, and documentation; we are now moving to evaluations as well. We keep an inventory of what staff has. We also have onboarding and offboarding in this portal. We have announcements that go out. We can see who is in and out at a glance.

Usability

I think that this application is very user-friendly—for the administrator and for the end user. From setting up the application for staff to having the staff update their profiles and upload documentation, communication throughout the application is easy. Collecting signatures from staff is a great feature. It was a very easy implementation process.

BambooHR Reporting

The reporting function is also very user-friendly. They are being able to provide reports for the staff, executive team, and the human resource department. Staff should be able to see the sick, personal, and vacation hours they have used that they have left. For staff to see what training they have on file is excellent.

Alternatives Considered

Not listed here is Staff File Pro, which we used, and it was not user-friendly at all. We also did it old school with paper files and Excel spreadsheets, along with old-school signatures. A lot of these things were difficult to manage, and a lot of duplication was created. Moving to Bamboo HR has made this process so simple and easy to manage.

36 - HR Functionality, benefits review, policy and procedure review and signatures, announcements, timesheet, sick leave, personal leave, and vacation leave. Staff information and profile updating. Personal information on staff. Collecting of assets the staff person has. Creates org chart and able to enter who is on who's team and visualize it.

Support Headcount Required

4 - There is an admin who is 2 staff members and 2 limited admins to manage assets. If the admins are not able to perform a task, however, they can reach out to customer service, and there is usually a quick turnaround time to resolve. Great support!

The biggest factor was the ease of use. We have moved to such an era where technology is key; however, there are so many moving pieces in technology that we wanted to ensure we introduced something that would not overwhelm the team, staff, and executive team. When we introduced to the team staff adapted to it quickly.

Evaluation Lessons Learned

We would not do anything or change anything differently. We took into account the product, the users, and the HR team. We would still look at the ease of the product. The only thing differently would have been using Bamboo HR sooner so we would not have to migrate all of our files.

Premium Support

We did this for a time period to ensure the set-up was done properly. We do not intend to keep it, though, because we are a non-profit and can't maintain that fee. We would request it again if we implement new features, etc.; however, they trained us well so that we don't need it.

The initial set-up was so smooth, and support was there every step of the way. It was a painless process, and even with a few hiccups, we barely felt them because the support was awesome. Via team, call, or even video call, all was on point when it came to support.
