TriNet for the win

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We decided to use TriNet for payroll and benefits because, as a small organization, we could not offer reasonably priced benefits. Our payroll system was antiquated as well. It has been so wonderful to work with a company that was able to help us offer health insurance to our dedicated employees. While learning the system has been challenging, the benefits and perks of using TriNet far outweigh those obstacles. I could not be happier with the service I am receiving.

Pros

  • Benefits using the Healthee tool
  • offers extra perks to our employees
  • HR processes as we employ in different states

Cons

  • More help during training sessions. They rushed through it and were not always available.
  • updated procedures to give to clients who want to train on their own time
  • better communication on all the features offered. There were many I wasn't aware of until almost 4 months in!

Return on Investment

  • HR compliance has been a huge benefit
  • HR administrative tasks are at an all time low with TriNet's help
  • payroll efficiency
  • time off balances are accurate

TriNet- Great for Small Companies but Still Room for Improvement

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We have 100+ employees, and TriNet has been great to work with for payroll and employee management. The platform makes it easy to access tools like creating employee handbooks and employer laws and regulations in each state, and I often call in for support on a variety of topics, such as HR Consultation, how to improve our reporting, and payroll issues. However, often I get contradictory information from our account support and the support I am connected with online. I know they are doing some work to make their platform more tech-forward; however, currently, it is behind the times and disjointed.

Pros

  • Payroll Administration
  • Benefits Prep and Education
  • HR Consultation and Employer Law information with weekly updates

Cons

  • Training Video schedule. I would like access to these vides when is convenient for me
  • The ATS
  • The User Interface is a bit sloppy and confusing

Return on Investment

  • Open Enrollment was streamlined and easy
  • Payroll and time keeping all in one place
  • The knowledge resource center is an easy way to brush up on best practices with HR and the wing is a great place to brainstorm with other HR professionals.

Mostly Great

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Sustainability Partners uses TriNet as our all-in-one HR, payroll, benefits, and compliance platform to support our fully remote, multi-state workforce. TriNet manages our payroll, tax filings, benefits enrollment, and onboarding processes, and provides HR guidance on employee relations and state-specific leave compliance. We also use TriNet’s expense management software for employee reimbursement, which integrates directly with payroll for a seamless process. Overall, TriNet helps us stay compliant, streamline operations, and provide a consistent employee experience across 11 states.

Pros

  • Customer support is great when working with Amy Hoffman. She's always very quick to respond and helpful. I'd say she's the thing that makes me want to stay with TriNet the most.
  • The webinars are very helpful. I utilize those frequently and our CFO has signed up for some as well.
  • The expense management system has been very helpful. There are a couple issues with it, but it's leaps better than what the company was doing before this system through TriNet.

Cons

  • The cloud expense platform has proven difficult at times. The most recent issue is that an expense was exported twice onto payroll. I'm not sure why that would even be allowed to happen-- for what purpose would that capability serve in a positive way? Also, I don't like that I can't sort the company reports by employee or date. I also really don't like that employees can only access the web browser using their TriNet employee page instead of being able to log directly into the cloud expense platform using the same TriNet credentials as the employee portal.
  • The cost of medical benefits is very high and we're having to look at alternatives, which I don't want to do, but executive leadership is insisting due to the costs to both employees and us as the employer.
  • I don't like that I can't access a dependent level census report because we have under 50 employees. I also don't like that we can only do a benefits carve out on a quarterly basis even though we have a month to month contract. That alone may force us into having to leave TriNet because we just can't continue having our people pay such high premiums.

Return on Investment

  • Lately, on the positive end, employees are very happy with the expense reimbursement platform.
  • Negatively, employees are very upset at the cost of their medical benefit premiums. And I mean, VERY upset and vocal about it. It almost cost us a new hire as well who brings great value to the company.

TriNet Review

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We moved to TriNet as our PEO when we were expanding to multiple states so that we can stay compliant and offer benefits to all our employees. We use it for our Applicant Tracking System, Onboarding/offboarding, Payroll, HR needs, reporting and we also use TriNet/Zenefits HR to pay our Contractors.

Pros

  • Payroll-it's intuitive and mostly easy to use.
  • HR - compliance and policy. Able to look up and get support on different state laws when it comes to onboarding or offboarding. Payroll, etc.
  • Education - I appreciate the emails and webinars events. The Wing has been helpful.
  • People - our payroll and sales representative has been very helpful. We had a few people along the way that was not the best fit for our company but we are happy with who is helping us at this time.

Cons

  • Benefits: we thought because we were a part of a PEO we would have more options to choose from. We also had to reset up the whole company when we added medical benefits the second year with TriNet. That was frustrating and confusing.
  • TriNet/Zenefits HR Platform: I wish this was more integrated with the PEO side of things. It feels like the bare bones and not as intuitive where certain things are in this side of the platform.
  • Sometimes when we ask questions to our HR or Payroll representative we get scripted emails back that doesn't seem to answer our questions directly.

Return on Investment

  • TriNet has had a positive impact on improving payroll accuracy especially when it comes to Leave of Absences and automating 401K and benefits.
  • TriNet has impacted our accuracy on our data collection. All the data is in one location so we can fill out grant reporting and see data and stats of our demographics.
  • TriNet applicant tracking has allowed us to keep everything in one place and helps the efficiency of our recruiting. We are not spending time storing and filing away resumes and scores.
