TriNet for the win

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We decided to use TriNet for payroll and benefits because, as a small organization, we could not offer reasonably priced benefits. Our payroll system was antiquated as well. It has been so wonderful to work with a company that was able to help us offer health insurance to our dedicated employees. While learning the system has been challenging, the benefits and perks of using TriNet far outweigh those obstacles. I could not be happier with the service I am receiving.

Pros

  • Benefits using the Healthee tool
  • offers extra perks to our employees
  • HR processes as we employ in different states

Cons

  • More help during training sessions. They rushed through it and were not always available.
  • updated procedures to give to clients who want to train on their own time
  • better communication on all the features offered. There were many I wasn't aware of until almost 4 months in!

Return on Investment

  • HR compliance has been a huge benefit
  • HR administrative tasks are at an all time low with TriNet's help
  • payroll efficiency
  • time off balances are accurate

Mostly Great

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Sustainability Partners uses TriNet as our all-in-one HR, payroll, benefits, and compliance platform to support our fully remote, multi-state workforce. TriNet manages our payroll, tax filings, benefits enrollment, and onboarding processes, and provides HR guidance on employee relations and state-specific leave compliance. We also use TriNet’s expense management software for employee reimbursement, which integrates directly with payroll for a seamless process. Overall, TriNet helps us stay compliant, streamline operations, and provide a consistent employee experience across 11 states.

Pros

  • Customer support is great when working with Amy Hoffman. She's always very quick to respond and helpful. I'd say she's the thing that makes me want to stay with TriNet the most.
  • The webinars are very helpful. I utilize those frequently and our CFO has signed up for some as well.
  • The expense management system has been very helpful. There are a couple issues with it, but it's leaps better than what the company was doing before this system through TriNet.

Cons

  • The cloud expense platform has proven difficult at times. The most recent issue is that an expense was exported twice onto payroll. I'm not sure why that would even be allowed to happen-- for what purpose would that capability serve in a positive way? Also, I don't like that I can't sort the company reports by employee or date. I also really don't like that employees can only access the web browser using their TriNet employee page instead of being able to log directly into the cloud expense platform using the same TriNet credentials as the employee portal.
  • The cost of medical benefits is very high and we're having to look at alternatives, which I don't want to do, but executive leadership is insisting due to the costs to both employees and us as the employer.
  • I don't like that I can't access a dependent level census report because we have under 50 employees. I also don't like that we can only do a benefits carve out on a quarterly basis even though we have a month to month contract. That alone may force us into having to leave TriNet because we just can't continue having our people pay such high premiums.

Return on Investment

  • Lately, on the positive end, employees are very happy with the expense reimbursement platform.
  • Negatively, employees are very upset at the cost of their medical benefit premiums. And I mean, VERY upset and vocal about it. It almost cost us a new hire as well who brings great value to the company.

TriNet - exceptional PEO

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use TriNet as our PEO to handle comprehensive HR and payroll functions. This includes payroll processing, managing employee benefits like health insurance and 401(k) plans, ensuring compliance with state regulations, and receiving HR advisory support for issues like onboarding and performance management.

Pros

  • Best in class account support from a dedicated customer relationship manager and a customer success consultant.
  • Intuitive and powerful online and mobile application for both employee and administrator use.
  • Access to many health benefits and carriers, including an EAP.
  • Always available employee and admin support through phone, email, and chat functions.
  • Simple and straightforward payroll processing.

Cons

  • Time and Attendance module does not truly integrate with the Payroll Processing module.
  • More intuitive report building.
  • Better applicant tracking system.

Return on Investment

  • By outsourcing payroll and benefits administration, we've significantly improved payroll accuracy and reduced the time our small accounting team spends on admin tasks.
  • Access to competitive benefits at lower costs has boosted employee satisfaction and retention.
  • Another positive impact has been the TriNet mobile application's role in enhancing employee engagement and accessibility to HR tools on the go.

Usability

TriNet provides excellent HR services to small businesses

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

[...] depends on TriNet to manage our payroll and employee benefits, providing our personnel with top-quality insurance options and other benefits. Further, they facilitate hiring and employment regulations across the several states where we have staff. They have also greatly simplified for us the on-boarding process for foreign employees working on student visas and given us confidence that we are following all applicable regulations correctly. The TriNet online platform offers us a one-stop login for all our HR needs and reporting.

Pros

  • Responds quickly and effectively to inquiries through both the chat or phone options.
  • Customizes the payroll approval process to meet our needs.
  • Offers a forum that allows us to connect with other small businesses in the TriNet network to crowdsource recommendations for a range of business issues.

Cons

  • The online interface for the annual benefits strategy is difficult to navigate and not intuitive.
  • Sometimes the payroll processing division provides explanations that are not very clear or accessible to non-HR professionals.
  • The cost of the service is at the higher end of the market offerings.

Return on Investment

  • TriNet has raised the level of professionalism for our organization by having a really good platform that provides employees and management with easy data entry and reporting infrastructure.
  • I am sure that the benefits that TriNet offers have helped us recruit and retain excellent staff.
  • TriNet has reduced the time and energy spent on onboarding new employees.

We are not disappointed.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We are a small remote organization and had been managing all HR, payroll, etc. in house and we outgrew ourselves. TriNet has made managing hiring, exits, payroll, and insurance very smooth as has brought piece of mind that we're with complying with all employment laws across the several states we employ people in.

Pros

  • Onboarding/exit management
  • Ensuring compliance with all employment laws
  • Support availability and assistance
  • Time tracking
  • Payroll

Cons

  • When we first onboarded we weren't getting responses to our emails which was concerning after we had just signed the contract. Turns out all of our emails were getting blocked/held so that was frustrating. Since then we have had a great experience.
  • To process payroll, you have to create the record in their time keeping portal and then upload it to the payroll system. It would be great to be able to skip that step with the different systems syncing together.
  • We've abandoned the employee review platform as it's never been a smooth experience. We've had issues with: scheduled reviews for a group that launches early or late, not being able to end the group reviews because 1 person has left the company, the platform not being intuition enough to find what we're looking for.

Return on Investment

  • Before TriNet we were using Google sheets to track time; TriNet has real-time clock in/out to ensure accuracy, and a robust platform to edit/add entries as needed.
  • We are now confident we are compliant with laws and regulation because of TriNet.
  • TriNet saves us time each week for HR admin tasks.
