Overall Satisfaction with Basecamp

I use Basecamp as a project organization system that is used by myself and some other coworkers. We use it to create and assign tasks, input descriptions and due dates, attach files, etc. We can keep up with the status of the tasks together, get email notifications about when the tasks are updated or come due, etc. They are grouped into different projects for each client so we can keep things organized, but we each have our own personal dashboard that shows tasks that are due soon across all projects. It is used across the whole company as well as some external contractors so we can coordinate marketing efforts, development efforts, design efforts, etc. If we didn't use Basecamp, we would not be as organized and accountable for the projects and tasks we're working on.
  • The interface is beautiful and intuitive
  • It is very easy to see what tasks you need to work on
  • Coordination between other users is simple and effective
  • I'd like to see some other visual representation of tasks, like a Kanban board
  • The calendar-based report of tasks would be helpful but it was too crowded
  • Recurring templates were a pain to use (e.g., if you want the same tasks every month)
  • Being able to manage our projects keeps us focused and on task, helping move projects to completion so we can deliver for--and keep--clients
  • Basecamp likely takes the place of multiple tools if we were to buy them separately, so it saves money there too
  • Basecamp is a great tool for hiring/training as well, as we can be very organized as we level up our employees
Asana has a free tier that has fewer features than Basecamp, so we opted for Basecamp for the additional ways we could use it. The Kanban board style in Asana is nice, but the document repository, chat features, recurring templates, etc. were selling points for Basecamp. It also has an integration with Harvest, which we use for time tracking.

Do you think Basecamp delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with Basecamp's feature set?

Yes

Did Basecamp live up to sales and marketing promises?

Yes

Did implementation of Basecamp go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy Basecamp again?

Yes

Basecamp is a great project management system overall, and it is reasonably priced. If you work on multiple projects and want to have to-dos for yourself, tasks you work on with other coworkers, and want a dashboard that you'll come back to every day/week to check on the status of everything, it will get the job done.
