Overall Satisfaction with Catchpoint

We use Catchpoint to monitor the performance of our websites, APIs, and third-party integrations. It helps us proactively detect performance bottlenecks, latency issues, and outages even before they impact our customers in a wide radius. We use it at our Site Reliability engineering team and performance engineering teams. The primary focus is on synthetic monitoring, and we also leverage alerts to be able to quickly respond to incidents and maintain our SLAs.

Pros

  • Synthetic and Real User Monitoring.
  • Third Party dependency monitoring.
  • Customizable Dashboards and Reporting.

Cons

  • Using synthetic tests for multi-step user journeys requires scripting knowledge and manual effort.
  • More drag-and-drop dashboard customizable options, pre-build templates, or AI-generated insights.
  • Mobile application performance is not up to the mark compared to web performance monitoring.
  • Reduced downtime by proactively detecting performance issues before they impact customers; Catchpoint has helped prevent lost sales.
  • Faster incident resolution and operational efficiency.
  • Data driven vendor accountability and SLA compliance.
Basic monitoring (uptime and synthetic tests)- within a few hours to a day Multi-step transactions - 1-week Challenges in setup:- Some complex synthetic tests required scripting experience, making setup less plug-and-play than expected. Basic use cases were quick to implement, and deeper monitoring required technical expertise but was manageable within a few weeks.
I always receive emails about updates, patches, and what's new. All the queries were answered quickly.
I have not used any other product similar to Catchpoint, or we can say I never felt the need to check out other products.

Yes

Are you happy with Catchpoint's feature set?

Yes

Did Catchpoint live up to sales and marketing promises?

Yes

Did implementation of Catchpoint go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy Catchpoint again?

Yes

Proactive Website and API performance testing, Synthetic monitoring, and third-party integration are where Catchpoint is best suited. Catchpoint is less appropriate in Deep Application Performance monitoring, debugging complex user journeys in real-time, Small businesses, and Mobile app performance monitoring. These are the scenarios where I find Catchpoint is well-suited and scenarios where it is less appropriate.
