Overall Satisfaction with Chrome Remote Desktop
We use Chrome Remote Desktop to access certain resources that are only available on machines physically located at our corporate office. Only a few users need it, mainly in the accounting and human resources departments. While Chrome Remote Desktop isn't my primary solution for remote access, I use it quite often when other solutions don't work or are down for maintenance.
Pros
- Can't beat the price -- it's free!
- Setup is very easy, even for tech-challenged people
- Interface is straightforward and simple
Cons
- Locks you into the Chrome environment
- Display options are limited when you use multiple monitors on the remote host
- File transfer functionality is clumsy
- Can't really determine ROI since it's a free product, but it's definitely worth the time spent setting it up!
- I have additional peace of mind knowing I have this as a secondary option for accessing my work PC.
- Chrome Remote Desktop is great for single users, but not designed for enterprise use.
No one can beat Chrome Remote Desktop's price! But that price (free) means something--missing features, limited support. For true business use, access to multiple machines, robust support, etc., I'd go with one of the more expensive options.
