Overall Satisfaction with Cisco Business Edition 6000 (BE6000)

We use the Cisco BE6K solution as our enterprise telephony platform for our offices across the region. We predominantly use CUCM, CIMP, and UCCX applications. For our remote users, we use Cisco Jabber as the endpoint, on Windows and Android. We have also integrated our [Cisco] BE6K solution with Microsoft Teams in order to use the Cisco Webex endpoints we have on Teams meetings.
  • Call control
  • User onboarding
  • Support for remote workers
  • Single pane of glass for management
  • Include tools for inter-cluster migration, currently these are provided by 3rd parties
  • Improve the software upgrade process by automating the pre-upgrade and post-upgrade checks
  • Easier management, we spend less time now on mundane user admin after we fully adopted the self-service portal
The other products lacked the tight integration that allows a seamless user experience. The reliance on 3rd parties to provide some of the functions that Cisco was providing natively was a huge factor in choosing Cisco.
TAC support is very good and responsive, whether it is during a deployment or during operations. Cisco's documentation on all aspects of the solution, be it hardware or software is very clear and easy to understand. An improvement needs to be done on documentation though as you would find typos that are carried over from earlier versions of the document.

The Cisco BE6K solution is probably the best collaboration platform out there at the moment. Starting from application deployment using Prime Collaboration Deployment to [the] integration of the on-premises platform with cloud services, deployment, and administration [is] a breeze. The tight integration with Cisco endpoints and the ability to individually manage them also helps to ensure an unparalleled user experience. With Cisco CSR 14, administrative tasks like software upgrades and user onboarding have been made simpler. More could be done though to improve those 2 areas.

Evaluating Cisco Business Edition 6000 (BE6000) and Competitors

  • Product Features
  • Product Usability
  • Product Reputation
We used the Gartner magic quadrant on UC to come up with a shortlist of the ideal vendors. We then had presentations from the vendors and after the Cisco presentation, we were convinced that it was the solution we were looking for. Their rich technology partner ecosystem helped as well.
We would insist on a product trial (30 days or so) and a reference to local customers where that deployment has been done.

We have basic support. We did not feel that we would get any extra value out of premium support given that basic support is enough for our requirements.
Yes - Yes. The bug was discovered during deployment and an engineer immediately got on the call to assess the impact and give guidance on how to proceed. Once the bug was resolved, the same engineer followed up with us to make sure we have the bug [fixed].
On a recent deployment of CSR 14, I encountered a bug to do with MGCP and DTMF. The engineer quickly picked that up and provided a solution. Within a few hours, the issue was resolved through an upgrade.
