Overall Satisfaction with Cisco Umbrella
I started using Cisco Umbrella for just DNS Security. That alone protected my organization from 95% of the malicious traffic that was being attempted. Later on I moved into full Security Internet Gateway providing fantastic protection for DLP, Full URL, CASB, and Remote Access. The ability to also integrate with my SOAR has saved us countless hours of response.
Pros
- Integration with other tools
- Intelligence is 2nd to none
- Phenomenal performance
Cons
- Better documentation

Would you buy Cisco Umbrella again?
Yes
- Would be nice if Investigate API was free
- During Covid Umbrella was our saving grace
With IPAM enforced DNS entries all devices on the network have to go through Umbrella for protection at the edge. This was an easy win for the company. For our remote workforce, we installed the roaming agent with is already part of AnyConnect. This allowed us to protect our employees no matter where they are.
Integrations into Splunk Phantom SOAR has saved the organization a large amount of time during the incident response process. It has also sped up the time to remediate keeping us out of breach situations. It also works well with Active Directory to help write policy and get proper reporting on the requests being made.
We attempted to deploy NetSkope, but it fell flat on its face as we starting turning certain features on. While NetSkope checks the box for many features, it does not mean it does them well. Many end user and IT complaints, causing us to turn features back off.
