Overall Satisfaction with Cloudflare

We use Cloudflare for DNS management across all of our cloud products and customer websites. We also use the CDN on all public-facing websites to reduce DDoS attacks on our servers.
  • DNS Management of all DNS zones on a domain name.
  • DDoS protection for public facing websites.
  • CDN Caching for public facing websites.
  • Reliable DNS record hosting.
  • More statistics on traffic types.
  • More page rules on the free plan.
  • Fast setup and management of customer's domain names.
  • Reliable DNS routing of all traffic worldwide.
We trialed Fastly, but preferred the interface and features of Cloudflare and have stuck with that ever since. We occasionally trail some of the new Cloudflare features, but mainly just use the standard DNS hosting (including the page rules) and the DDoS protection. As we do not have a huge demand for this type of service we have not evaluated any others.

It is well suited if you have a small web server hosted at any online provider to provide DDoS protection for your website and it is extremely easy to set up. It can also act as CDN caching to reduce the load on your website at busy traffic times. It is less appropriate for pointing to external IP addresses which are not static.
