Overall Satisfaction with ConnectWise Control
I've got this set up as an MSP for several of my customers. I resell monthly subscriptions per seat to them at my own discretionary rate, and it's a great tool for 1 click access to any PC/server I need access to remotely for admin tasks and to remote assist end users.
Pros
- One click direct instant remote access to workstations to assist and remote work on servers
- Cloud based so no on prem hosted server required
- MSI is easily deployable via GP
Cons
- The mobile app is terrible if you exit the app without going through the steps to end the current session, expect to get a self-hosted bill. I had remote access to a workstation from my phone while out of town, driving on the highway on the way home I incurred nearly 3 gigs throughout half the day even though I had terminated the app configured android to restrict access from background data. This is a huge flaw in the mobile app that should be fixed immediately.
- You charge way too much from what it was to what it is today. Used to be $500 for a self-hosted license with unlimited connections now they want 2k ?? Come on.
- Super easy to reach out to customers ... it's ridiculous having to tell people how to spell TeamViewer to search for it in their start menus, also sending them an e-mail link they can click on to get a remote session is super handy!
I've used Bomgar, Join.me, TeamViewer, RDS, PC Anywhere, VNC in the past. It used to be CostWise when Screenconnect wasn't called ConnectWise Control .. the ability to simply click in and connect to a PC with or without a firewall is so great. Being able to search by user or signed in person makes it easier than asking them to read the asset tag off their PC as well. For servers etc, seeing them online, and being able to easily deploy the client - AWESOME. After some reading, great features of being able to sort out the workstations by organization and then further restrict certain users (tech's) to sign in and see only the organizations you allow is another sweet feature.
ScreenConnect also has in remote session meeting where you can share your screen and easily send out invites via e-mail or post a web link to individuals to join. Bad part about this is it takes up a license so If i'm allowing a client to host a meeting I can't remote any other servers/workstations.
