Overall Satisfaction with ConnectWise Control (formerly ScreenConnect)
As a one-person IT department, I use ConnectWise control all the time to provide remote access and support for users and devices in over 40 remote locations. Typical of remote control solutions, the biggest issue addressed by this solution is eliminating travel, making it possible for me to do more in less time and with less expense.
- Performs very well, even over slow T1 and DSL links.
- Remote client is easy to install, and is unattended and automatically enrolls by default. It's also easy for users to join a support session via URL with no installation necessary.
- Cloud-based dashboard makes it easy to see all existing clients, tell which ones are online, and control or manage machines with just a couple clicks.
- It would be nice if the dashboard could provide private IP addresses so that I could see at a glance which devices are at which locations.
- Automatic updating of client agents would be nice.
- Being able to support Windows workstations, Windows servers, Linux servers, and Android devices from a single product dashboard saves me thousands of dollars a year in purchase and management of separate products.
- Totally cloud-based implementation means I don't have to manage any servers or central software, saving even more.
- Every time I use remote access to solve an issue, I've saved driving somewhere, sometimes up to 2 hours one way. Over the course of a year, this saves thousands of dollars in travel costs and lost time, as well as getting issues resolved more quickly, making me and my users more productive.
- DameWare Mini Remote Control
DameWare MRC was a good remote control product, but didn't function well over slow links, and lacked the "at-a-glance" functionality of ConnectWise Control. DameWare was also only useful over private links, as internet management required installation and management of a separate proxy server (free to install).
