Overall Satisfaction with Coupa

We mainly use Coupa for the procurement of indirect materials and services. The purchases/invoices will be checked for compliance with corporate requirements (e.g., are the Correct Cost elements used, does it exceed the given budget, etc.) and then sent for approval as appropriate, based on the organization's setup and the dollar amount of the requested item.

Pros

  • Visibility and control over Spendings.
  • Compliance to corporate standards.
  • Routing for approval.

Cons

  • Handling of multiple currencies and conversion.
  • Support for another language - not just display, but also data entry (e.g., Vendor name in a foreign language).
  • Lots of integration work with SAP to make it work.
  • Compliance increase more than 50%.
-Could be easy or hard to use depending on corporate policies and compliance. At times, errors and cryptical message associated with them could drive users mad.
-Lower price point, ease of implementation, and overall usability.

Do you think Coupa delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with Coupa's feature set?

Yes

Did Coupa live up to sales and marketing promises?

Yes

Did implementation of Coupa go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy Coupa again?

Yes

Suitable: Simple indirect procurement. Low cost; short cycle implementation. Less Suitable: Complex procurement scenario requiring serious vendor collaboration. End-to-end integration. Direct Material Procurement, especially when planning, quality inspection, and other miscellaneous activities are involved, requires handling various special statuses and updates to meet industry- or country-specific requirements.

-Features for international support, e.g., Currency, Language, Local Taxes, etc.
-Probably would focus more on the international support features. While Coupa claims to support many international features, they are only superficial in nature. E.g. In Asian countries like Japan, Thailand, and Taiwan, the name may be in both the native language and English. We want to be able to support both.

Coupa Support

-Support is generally speaking OK (not great). The user community is quite active, and the response time is acceptable. I would certainly hope there's more user-generated content (like in SAP, Oracle, and Linux, etc.), but I suppose Coupa is still not large enough, and the incentives are not yet there.
