Overall Satisfaction with Canto

We use [Cumulus] to manage digital art, some is scanned images of actual drawn and painted art, and most is digital art created by our design team. The entire company uses it with different levels of access to utilize approved artwork for different departments and needs. It allows for versioning of different stages of the same piece of art, as well as holding artwork currently being developed to prevent duplication when multiple people may want to work on the same file.
  • Internal backup system that keeps 7 days of configurations and files
  • Provides multiple webpages for searching, viewing, downloading, and sharing.
  • Robust user roles, and user access levels
  • Cumulus can be extremely granule or just managed with mostly basic out of the box features
  • Easier reporting
  • It should prevent drag and drop in the tree that would orphan linked files
  • More ways to search
  • A single location for all our digital assets
  • User management and configurable roles
  • Web access
  • This is not an incredibly expensive product/support
  • I have been able to prevent costly file recovery due to its internal backup system
  • We can see who accesses what files, internal or external
Cumulus was exactly what we needed, other software seemed to be bundled with features we did not need. Having multiple web pages for certain groups like retailers, licensees, and internal employees is precisely what was needed for our company.
Support has always been great for Cumulus.
Each of the other platforms have seemed to cost more each time this has come up.

Microsoft Office 2016 (discontinued), Code42 (formerly CrashPlan), Unitrends Data Center Backup and Recovery
It feels like Digital art is exactly what it is designed for, it should be used as a versioning tool allowing someone to basically check out artwork, make changes, check it back in preventing anyone else from doing the same.
It is not a general file share program, it is far too robust to limit it to just file sharing.
