D&B Hoovers
Overall Satisfaction with D&B Hoovers
Our research team is the primary Hoovers users. We use it to conduct market research on competitors and potential targets. It's part of a range of methods to procure information about revenue, size, and operational overview of targets we are interested in. We also mainly use it for its ability to procure corporate family trees to understand linkages between companies.
Pros
- Link corporate family trees.
- Provide revenue estimates.
- Give lists of corporate locations.
- Overview of operations and recent company news.
Cons
- It has extremely limited information available on private companies.
- Public company financials feel outdated, and I would prefer to go to the source annual reports rather than rely on D&B for them.
- D&B is hardly core to our operations. It is a research tool we probably consult for half an hour before moving on to other methods. It has not had a large impact on our overall business objectives.
- D&B Finance Analytics
Finance Analytics provides a more thorough company credit report and is more in-depth than Hoovers. However, I use Hoovers for instances where I do not need that information because it allows unlimited queries, whereas you pay for a limited number of reports from Finance Analytics. Hoovers provides a better link between corporate family trees and finance analytics.
