Overall Satisfaction with D&B Hoovers

Our GTM operations and data teams are the primary users of D&B Hoovers. We use the tool to expand our set of ICP accounts by finding net new accounts to add to our CRM. We also use D&B Hoovers to help fill out missing information on these accounts.

We also use D&B Hoovers to help find net new contacts for our marketing and seller teams. We want to find the best buying contact for each account.

Pros

  • It does a great job helping us look up data for a specific DUNS number
  • It helps us build lists to target new contacts by DUNS numbers
  • We can also build lists to help us find net new accounts.

Cons

  • It does not show inactive or out of business DUNS numbers. This makes it hard to do research using the tool
  • The list upload process is limited and does not work well for large lists.
  • The list building UI could be better streamlined for faster work.
  • It helps us find new contact to win deals
  • It helps us find new account to target
  • It helps us make sure we have better data for our contacts and accounts.
The primary use of our company data is for hierarchy data, and we have had mixed results with this data. We find times where D&B Hoovers has duplicated data in the hierarchy data.

We have found fields such as website and address to be remarkably accurate and valuable for us at the account level.
We have found that about 70 to 80 percent of the accounts for which we need contact information are available through D&B Hoovers. This is helpful, but not the best win rate we have seen.

We have also had success with the contact information that has come back, including email and phone, to talk to these contacts.
  • D&B Connect
They are the imcubment for our company and though we have issues with D&B Hoovers their price to performace has been good and we plan to keep using them.

We do have other vendors that work in this space and D&B Hoovers does hold its own but I would say that they are just one player that we use.

Yes

If they are looking up hierarchy information or conducting company research, I would recommend using it. This would be the same for net new accounts or contacts.

If they were conducting in-depth research, I would suggest they consider using a different tool. The limited ability to review out-of-business companies and data makes the tool limited in that type of research.
