Overall Satisfaction with Deputy

We schedule our entire staff through Deputy and use the journals as a method for recording disciplinary actions and the news feed for company communication. We have different positions, responsibilities, and skills tagged by employees. Staff can request time off for approval by management, and their annual PTO balances are tracked.

  • Notifications are spotty, don't always get push notifications on my phone
  • Tiered subscription program allows you to have the product features tailored to your business for most cost effective use
  • Shift swapping between employees doesn't need to be manually approved by management so long as your employees details are accurate!
Deputy is free for your employees, and HotSchedules charges the employees for the mobile app. Sling scheduling didn't have auto-scheduling or automatic approvals on shift swaps.

Deputy is robust but well laid out from a user's perspective so not difficult to navigate. Much of the scheduling is easier on a desktop browser, but the mobile app is good too if you need to use it in a pinch.
[The implementation of Deputy is] very straightforward with a simple employee invite and onboarding process. Communication from Deputy support is good, and the chat bubble is always available. Support is responsive.
Deputy is perfect for a part-time workforce when managing younger employees. The mobile app is extremely user-friendly and allows for staff to communicate with each other and develop a sense of community without being bombarded with messages that may not be relevant to them. Scheduling is very easy with templates and auto-fill as long as you have your employee training and availability up to date.
