Overall Satisfaction with Deputy

The main reason why we use Deputy is to track the hours our employees work to specific job sites. With this product, we can schedule employees and also have them manually enter timesheets. We also use Deputy to create different types of reports, and you can modify the reports for your needs. Deputy also makes it easy for us to onboard new employees online, which saves a lot of time for us and the employees.

Pros

  • Onboarding with ability to add extra documents needed.
  • Good to be able to set up several jobs/locations.
  • Integration with several accounting systems.
  • Reminders for both employer and employees.
  • Message function.

Cons

  • Deputy needs to add a comment symbol in timesheets!!!!! So easy to miss when employees have written a comment without it.
  • Time saved doing payroll.
  • Time saved doing reports.
  • Easy communication between management and employees.
We only had When I Work for employees to enter their hours. The functions of Deputy is way better and all employees think that it is much easier to use. It is now a year since we changed to Deputy, so I don't know if the other app has improved, but at the time Deputy was superior and actually cheaper as well.

Like I've already mentioned, before choosing Deputy we tried at least 5 other time tracking apps, but none of the others really suited us and our needs. Deputy is easy to use for both management and employees. It is very affordable, you pay for the exact number of employees you have. It is also great that it communicates well with our accounting system Xero.
I got lots of help from Deputy setting up, which was highly appreciated. At first, I had some issues with the integration with Xero, giving me doubt that Deputy wouldn't be for us. However, Deputy support helped us through this and made it all work. Their support is there whenever you need it.
I don't know if it would be less appropriate at all really. I looked at and tried out multiple time tracking apps before choosing Deputy, and so many apps did not suit our needs as a construction company and personal preferences. Deputy is very adaptable to your needs, and they really want to be the best time tracking app out there. If something doesn't suit your needs, they try to improve the product.
