Friendly, Mobile and Versatile Database for English Language
Overall Satisfaction with DonorPerfect
DonorPerfect is being used across the whole organization. It allows each department to individually customize the processing of donor data.
For those departments which have people who are comfortable with SQL or are adept at using the filter design tools, Donorperfect provides often design shared filters which the other departments can easily access and use. The advantages of online access to shared information is most advantageous and benefits the whole organization.

Pros
- DonorPerfect has responded to bugs in the online software with patches which makes software use easier.
- DonorPerfect permits data filter sharing among different departments in the same organization which not only benefits each department but the whole organization.
- DonorPerfect easily allows data analysis. This is most beneficial in better targeting of donors.
Cons
- The only area of which I am aware that DonorPefect has room for improvement is in its handling of data that includes extended ASCII characters necessary for the Spanish language and Hispanic names. When accents (á, Ă©, Ă, Ăł, Ăş), tildes (ñ, Ă‘) and special punctuation characters (¡, Âż) are used in the database, there are consequences. Since the majority of the departments in our organization deal exclusively with Hispanics, this becomes an issue.
- At this point in time, any positive or negative impact on ROI that our department has noticed has not been attributable to DonorPerfect but rather to marketing and public relations efforts on the part of our staff. Should a campaign be launched by the administration of our department to better target donors using DonorPerfect this might cause a positive impact on the ROI attributable to DonorPerfect.
DonorPerfect is specifically adapted to nonprofit donor constituent management which makes it more easily used by the staff of our organization.

- Receipting the donors
- Massaging the donor data
- Mass mailings
- A series of mass mailings that targeted market research of various groups of donors.
- DonorPerfect lends itself to targeting donors who have email addresses and doing special promotions among this group of donors. This is an area that will not only be more cost effective but product as well.
Evaluating DonorPerfect and Competitors
Yes - Microsoft Access was replaced by DonorPerfect. DonorPerfect was more mobile and friendlier. It is specifically adapted to nonprofit constituent relationship management which probably was the primary reason for replacing Microsoft Access with DonorPerfect. The online tutorials and support were very helpful to the staff who are using DonorPerfect. It became the organizational database 5 years ago.
- Price
- Product Features
- Product Usability
- Analyst Reports
- Third-party Reviews
The single most important factor in the decision was product features that were adapted to nonprofit constituent management.
The evaluation would not change. The organization was aware of the language limitations of the database before it was purchased.
DonorPerfect Implementation
- Implemented in-house
Yes - Partial changeover followed by complete changeover.
Change management was a big part of the implementation and was well-handled - A change manager that interfaces well with the people in an organization is very important.
- Adjusting to the language limitations of DonorPerfect with "work-arounds".
