Overall Satisfaction with DonorPerfect
DP is primarily our fundraising database but we are sharing it with other departments who are using it to track contacts, compare reports and consolidate information.
Pros
- Tracking donations.
- Built-in reports are very useful and can give you data you didn't know you wanted.
- Customer support is excellent.
- The annual conference is fun and informative.
Cons
- We tried the Moves Management module but it needs some development to be truly useful.
- It's a good idea to designate someone as the in-house DP expert and let them design the more advanced queries. Not all of us are savvy in the language of filters and Boolean logic and you can waste a lot of time trying to figure it out.
- It's easy to tell where you are year to date, comparisons to last year/month/quarter, donor retention rate, upgraded and downgraded donors... Armed with information, you can address a specific area of concern.
- I can't say that DP has brought in more money. It's a tool to be used by development professionals who then bring in the money, but it's a powerful and useful tool and always improving.
- Lifeline
Lifeline did an adequate job of tracking donors but it did not have the reporting functions nor the depth of DP. We felt it was time to move to a more professional level system and we checked out several options. The DP team won us over with their demo and follow through. It was clear they had a procedure in place to do a conversion from almost any other database and it was a relatively painless transition.
