Dropbox was once unbeatable, but today it's slow and sadly unreliable with video files.
Overall Satisfaction with Dropbox
We upload photos, audio files, and videos from mobile devices to share among the team. It creates an easy way for everyone to access shared files from anywhere in the world. Also a great backup, second to our local portable hard disk drives. Seamless and easy installation on portable devices and desktop environments.
Pros
- Stores files
- Allows global sharing
- Uploads from mobile devices
Cons
- Mobile video upload fails repeatedly.
- Desktop CPU usage is extremely inefficient. It's transferring files - not a CPU intense process.
- Desktop app occasionally shows incorrect file date and time.
- Faster, offsite file sharing increased efficiency
- Recent instability with mobile. Cloud video sharing has decreased efficiency.
Dropbox WAS faster, offered more storage, seemed more reliable six years ago. Today, Amazon, Google, OneDrive are outperforming DropBox. We will probably not renew our subscription and switch to one of the other providers.
