Overall Satisfaction with Dropbox

Our office needed a shared drive that is easy to access (where one can move/ store/ sync files) and also user friendly and accessible by a wide variety of users on multiple devices. We looked at many options but landed on Dropbox which satisfied our needs. We have been using it for multiple years now.

Pros

  • Synchronization of files once moved
  • Granting access to third parties to access specific files and folders
  • Making all files available on laptops, tablets, mobile phones, etc
  • Allowing one admin to grant and control access rights

Cons

  • The mechanism to grant access to specific files (based on the recipient) can be simplified
  • The number of people contributing to the growth of our company's database grew 4x
  • Dropbox also allowed shareholders to be able to access critical files that would get lost in emails
The platform has solved all the key problems we set out to solve as a team. Adoption is very easy, using the platform is seamless, and we generally do not have any issues with the platform.
OneDrive was much harder to install on devices (laptops and mobile phones/ tablets); synchronization was also an issue as it ended up duplicating a lot of files.

Microsoft Office 2016 (discontinued)
Perfectly suited for a lean team where all members need to have access to a database of office-related documents (both to preview and to download/ save the file locally). The platform may not be the best if there is only one uploader and multiple people who are only viewing the documents which are posted on the platform. The more collaborative the team, the more useful Dropbox can be.
