Overall Satisfaction with Dropbox

I use Dropbox as a means to share the writing projects I am working on. I am a member of a writer's group, and we can only share so much when meeting in person. For those who want to see more, Dropbox is a great way to accomplish it.

Pros

  • I can share projects I need feedback on.
  • I can make projects available to editors so that they can do their work.
  • Dropbox is a place where I can store files that I can access from anywhere, even if I don't have my laptop with me at the time.
  • I have an old friend who is an acting professor in Tokyo. He loves the dialogue that I write in my novels. He converts chapters into scenework for his acting students. They get very excited when there's new material!

Cons

  • I find it hard to add new material to an existing project without having to replace the whole thing. Perhaps it's just me? I have tried to copy and paste the additional material, but to no avail. This should be a no-brainer.
  • It would even be great if I could link Microsoft Word, or even Office for that matter directly with Dropbox in some way. That way, upon completion, or even better yet, as I am working on it, the project is automatically updating back and forth into Word/Office.
  • A direct link from Dropbox to and from my email account would be helpful. Then, when working with an editor, a dialogue could be developed in real time.
  • I access my Dropbox account from anywhere—any computer, my smartphone —is very accessible while still secure.
  • I would like it to be more editable with existing projects. This could be just me.
  • I would like it to integrate better with other systems, such as email and Office.
It's great, but anything can be improved.
Have only used Dropbox.

Do you think Dropbox delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with Dropbox's feature set?

Yes

Did Dropbox live up to sales and marketing promises?

Yes

Did implementation of Dropbox go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy Dropbox again?

Yes

Before Dropbox, if I wanted someone to read something I wrote, I either had to print the whole thing or attach it to an email. If the piece were large, I might have to either create a zip file or break it up into smaller pieces. The larger the number of attachments, the slower the download. With Dropbox, the reader seems to access the material much faster, and then I can receive the critiques I am looking for more quickly.
