Overall Satisfaction with Druva inSync

We are using this solution to protect all of our company's laptops. We were looking for a solution that did more than the typical backup and recovery solution. More specifically, we wanted to be able to secure our device's data were the device to be lost or stolen. It is essential to have a backup of one's data, but it is also very important to be able to secure it on the device itself. With Druva this can be done by remote erasing a device. In prior searches for solutions to accomplish these goals, it appeared at least two solutions would be required. Druva inSync made it possible to achieve them in one solution.
  • Easy to configure group or company-wide backup and recovery policies
  • Accommodates backups of both on-device data and O365 cloud-based data (email and OneDrive)
  • Provides at a glance summaries of data storage use, device status, and backups
  • Affords device location ability, and remote device erase from an easy to use portal
  • We have been using the solution for only six months, and in that time I have not identified any areas needing improvement.
  • In my opinion, you realize the benefit of solutions like this one when you need to recover data, or secure a device. My years of IT experience assure me that when we need to utilize those features of this solution, we will have tangible evidence of the benefit it provides to our business. At present, simply having an easy to manage comprehensive solution like inSync, provides us with a cost savings over managing either multiple solutions needed to accomplish our objectives, or a more difficult to manage solution.
We are using inSync to protect O365's Exchange mailboxes, and OneDrive data storage. inSync was easy to configure to backup these apps, and affords great visibility into what is being backed up, and recovery of items if needed.
We are not subscribed to this feature of the solution at this time.

We had been using Carbonite for a few years, but when we realized we needed a way to secure a lost/stolen device as well, my search brought me to Druva inSync's offerings. We switched all our devices over to it once our subscription to Carbonite expired.
In consultation with a Druva support person we configured a few policies first for several groups of users. Once that was done it was easy to add users and generate emails that contained links and instructions to download/install the app. Once installed, the app applied the appropriate policy and the sync of data began. We had 40 or so devices to protect, and in a week or less they were all protected. The delays usually were on the part of the user who needed to schedule some time (15-30 minutes at most) to accept the invitation and download/install the app.

You can protect any mobile device (you can use it on smartphones too, we are not yet doing so) through an easy to use, and comprehensive management portal. If all you want to do is backup data on a device, then this solution would be more than you need. It depends on your specific business requirements.

COVID-19 Changes

We initially adopted and deployed Druva inSync in order to protect our company provided laptops. Since all employees with company laptops have them because they work from locations outside our corporate offices, the protection Druva inSync provides encompasses any disruption to use of the device and its contents.

So, in short, the inherent nature of the solution offers protection be it in the midst of a pandemic, a hurricane, an earthquake, or simply accidental damage of laptop.
It has not been necessary to use it for that purpose.
Even in "normal" times our company has a low turnover rate. We have not had any employee turnover due to COVID-19. That said, we have had a few employees leave our company for other employment, and in a few cases, having access to their inSync backups has proved useful. One example is, it has made it possible to more efficiently repurpose a departed employees device since we don't have to be concerned with retrieving their files first.
