Overall Satisfaction with Expensify

We use Expensify for general expense management, although travel expenses are the most prevalent type of expense. I have a personal expense policy as well, which I can switch to for a separate set of expenses from those of my company. Expensify assists both users and approvers in following the guidelines of our corporate travel policy.

Pros

  • Smart scanning function. Snap & go!
  • Switch between expense policies
  • Create a rule based on changes

Cons

  • Smart scanning could be faster with current AI technology. However, if you keep a routine of scanning on the spot, by the time you need to submit the report, it will have caught up. So not a deal breaker.
  • The Create a Rule based on Changes function defaults to the corporate policy. It would be better if it were context-sensitive to the policy in use, so there'd be no need to override. Maybe my incompetence was playing out; I didn't bother to learn if there was a way around this.
  • Perhaps Report ID's could be even shorter than the short version.

Intuitive user interface. Works well on multiple devices, such as a computer or smartphone. The functionality of creating a rule based on changes you make to an expense description and applying it to all matching expenses is an example of thoughtful features that increase usability, as it removes the tediousness of review.

For the business traveler juggling personal and corporate expenses, this app helps keep your reporting accurate, timely and hassle-free. It removes much of the guesswork thanks to its intuitive interface, with minimal time to get used to. It has saved me time and headaches, not to mention tons of paper from filling my wallet.
