Use Cases and Deployment Scope

I use Frame.io as a critique and feedback platform for my broadcast production students doing video: They upload their projects and I randomize assignments for leaving feedback on peer work.

Pros and Cons

Pros

Provides simple access to all the students to reach each others' projects
Allows them to leave feedback as they're watching the videos, saving time looking for time-code or rewinding
Syncs with Premiere Pro to give them timeline markers for where their videos need attention.

Cons

The Premiere Pro incorporation could be more seamless; it takes a little for the students to learn where their feedback markers are
I'd love it if the platform was integrated directly into Premiere Pro, so they wouldn't even need to leave the software to post a draft for review

Return on Investment

The students are learning collaborative tools for video production and Frame.io is another one of those tools. As such, it complicates the process a little bit but that's generally good for them because most real-world processes are not simple.

Usability

I think there are small improvements that could be made, but the overall use that we've put it to has been very successful

Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe Audition, Adobe PhotoShop, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Illustrator CC

It's well suited to classroom application where students are all working on the same assignment and it's great to have multiple projects so they could theoretically be using it for multiple classes at once and not get the projects mixed up. It's not quite as useful when the students are working in teams on a project and seek feedback because one user submits, but the rest of the team isn't automatically included as the submitters.
