Overall Satisfaction with Google Analytics

We primarily use Google Analytics to track traffic to our public website and through integration with our automated email signature solution for email campaign banners. Understanding the number of visitors to our website and the strength of our email marketing as a traffic driver has been an essential upgrade to our MarTech stack. We've trialed different types of banners in our email signatures, some more subtle and some more direct with copy such as 'click here' and 'find out more' to experiment with what drives the most traffic to our site.

Pros

  • Customisable dashboard.
  • User friendly experience.
  • Good customer support team.

Cons

  • Greater explanation around how metrics combine with one another.
  • More options for 'guest-view' panels for users without accounts.
  • Simpler options for those with less marketing analytics experience.
  • Increased traffic to our public website.
  • Better segmentation of our target audience.
  • Higher ROI on our email marketing analytics.
Google Analytics has improved hugely in its usability and user-friendliness of the interface over the last decade. The simple formatting and customizable nature mean that a user can adapt a particular dashboard and the overall tool to suit their needs, whether those are more complex or relatively straightforward. There is still slight room for improvement, with some metrics, particularly when combined with others, that could have more detailed explanations in-platform for those users who are perhaps less tech-tuned.

Do you think Google Analytics delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with Google Analytics's feature set?

Yes

Did Google Analytics live up to sales and marketing promises?

I wasn't involved with the selection/purchase process

Did implementation of Google Analytics go as expected?

I wasn't involved with the implementation phase

Would you buy Google Analytics again?

Yes

Google Analytics is well suited for anybody looking to understand the volume and traffic sources of their existing tools, where an IT integration can be undertaken. It's well suited to businesses focused on demand generation, where the link between different tactics or campaign approaches and the impact on traffic can be handy. It's less appropriate in companies that don't have public-facing content, like a website or email marketing. Google Analytics is also only able to track users' behavior on your site; for example, they can't see if they then visit a competitor's site or what activity they undertake to follow your snapshot.
